    Ducati 1098R

MCN tester Michael Neeves goes through what seperate with bike from the 1098S and the previous 999R. The bike looks wonderful with some great features lending itself as a proper sports exotic bike.

    where does the exhaust go?

    Re: Ducati 1098R

I agree, the Desmodicci RR is the prettiest, and with 200hp, one of the fastest superbikes ever built!

    Re: Ducati 1098R

I think anyone would love the Desmodicci! Afterall, this is Casey Stoner's bike! For those who knows Italian, what does Desmodicci mean? And how do you actually pronounce it?

Woolfe, I live next door to BMW Melbourne which has a bike section as well and I see that Bike constantly. I love it! Apparently it is a torque monster? I don't know that much about bikes, but I do know a nice bike when I see one.

    Re: Ducati 1098R

Desmo is in connection with the desmodromic valve system while sedici translates to sixteen, which is how many valves it has. Remember the engine is a V4. Gauss, the exhaust comes out of the rear 'seat' section. The small vents on the of the back section is where the exhaust vapors exit.

As much as I like the Desmosedici RR road bike, I wouldn't ride it around town nor would I even ride it on track. Damaging this thing would be extremely depressing.

    Re: Ducati 1098R

1098R looks good but I'm not sure I like it better than a standard 1098 -- with the white and carbon fiber accents, it looks too "busy." It's a bit too dear when it comes to price as well...

I love the Desmosedici but couldn't see myself riding the hell out of it due to fear. It'd probably spend most of it's life in the garage.

For me I think an 848 in white is best...

    Re: Ducati 1098R

This "new" design rieks of the 750 Paso..and it doesn't smell good.

    It's pronounced (Dezzmo-Dee-Chee).

    ...and 5x more expensive!
I heard Tom Cruise got the first one to come to the U.S.

    Re: Ducati 1098R

As much as I drool over these extreme machines, I can't help but think I'd have more fun on something smaller, lighter, and less ... insane

This one in particular has caught my fancy of late:

I can't wait for the 2008 MotoGP season!!! We will see if anyone can challenge Stoner.. perhaps Rossi or Hayden with the new pneumatic-valve engines?

    Re: Ducati 1098R

Does anybody know the weight of the Desomdicci RR?

    Re: Ducati 1098R

I think claimed dry weight is 377 lb. But ask Tom to put it on the scales for you!

Me too!! Get something you can actually flog hard, and therefore get more fun out of!

I'm test riding 848 next week..

    Re: Ducati 1098R

Actually a few different magazines have been calling the 848 this years ultimate cornering machine.

Kamel, I think this season we will see a few suprises. I personally think that Jorge Lorenzo has the possibility of upsetting a couple races as well as the experienced Suzuki and Kawasaki camp but I feel, like last year, Rossi will be the main man to pose as a threat to Stoner's season.

    Re: Ducati 1098R

I do not think Honda will be threatening early in the season because of their engine situation. Here is something I read at Crash.net: click here

    Re: Ducati 1098R

First desmosedici delivered... not to Tom Cruise...
