    very nice fitted car cover.

will be nice if available to buy, don't need to take half the cover off to access the interior.

Cars are shipped to the dealerships in that cover, you don't have to buy, you just have to ask to saved them for you.

Tim, you'll take the time to use the wrap? It's only a car and meant to be exposed to the elements. I never would. Life is too short.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I only use car cover on my RS as I don't drive it in winter for 6 months.

will be nice to have a cover that has easy access to the interior.

But I hear you Nick, life is too short not to be driving our cars.  I drive all of them and is OK to park them anywhere.

Car covers are bad unless your car is pristine.

    1. They risk scratching the car due to putting pressure on debris between the cover and the car.
    2. As I found out, they encourage animals to find there way under them.

Best case, they stop your car from getting a little dusty or bumping into it with something in your garage.

    Agree.

Always clean car before put my cover on, car stays in indoor garage, have not seen any rodents yet Smiley

I can confirm you that at my dealer they have told the people who could not get one now that they will be able to get one on the next batch . And they would not tell them that if the second batch would not have been confirmed

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I want to see the old cars run with the new tires. It's almost certainly 95% tires that are making the differences. At some point you might as well just run slicks at the track.

And you can certainly source the new tires and find a .1 GT3RS and hire Lars Kern to lap it for you. No one is stopping you to do that.

Porsche on the other hand had moved on and won't do it, they are already onto the next thing.

They never went back to re-test the 918 with new tires, why would they bother to do it on a GT3RS?

The special AMG/Corvette compound is really something isn't it? Miles better than the regular compound Porsche uses before.

GT2RS is on the old Porsche compound, GT3RS is on the AMG compound.

Between the original Cup2 N0 ECO rated tires on the 918 and the special AMG compound Cup2s, I reckoned there should be 10+ seconds gain, then adding perhaps a second or 2 with the new track surface, perhaps a low 6:40s for the 918. if not breaking into 6:39.

GT2RS on the AMG compound should be close also. Probably 5 seconds can be had.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I'm sure tires played a role but let's give credit to the car. AP said the RS was a scalpel and he's right. See how well the car straighten out the curves and turns. Sure the driver had something to do with it but the car is the star.

FWIW, I seriously doubt the 918, GT2RS or the GT3.1RS would have similar improvements in time. I suspect Porsche in designing the .2GT3RS did it with this tires in mind.

I think the 918 would annihilate this car with the same tires. It naturally wouldn't have the same improvement because lap times are more exponential than linear at a certain point, thus there is much less time to gain for a 6:57 car than a 7:13 car.

I agree with better tires the 918 would beat the RS time. As to whether it annihilates the time is very questionable. The 918 is a couple of years old and Porsche technology has improved on the enhancement that originally were in the 918 and now in the RS.

Were the new lightweight wheels on the car for this lap - presumably since it's weissach?

Also, will those wheels fit GT3?  Thanks

GT3RS wheels won't fit GT3, too wide, front and rear.

Tires actually play a bigger role on the 918 than anything else.

It has more than enough power, performance of the car is limited by grip level, it's lacking aero grip too but one can't do anything about it.

GT3RS, has plenty of grip with respect to the power output, downforce is plenty in both the GT3RS and the GT2RS, but the GT2RS on the other hand has power to spare.

GT3RS is also lighter than the GT2RS os it is more nimble too in directional changes.

Sort of 3 different cars, but 2 different basic architect, all did under 7mins in different ways.

918 by brut force, GT3RS by agility, i.e. scalpel per AP, GT2RS is somewhere between the 2, sort of combining both attributes.
