I have been told by 2 different dealers, 09' model build will start sometime in May. It will surely inlude the DFI (with plus 25hp maybe a touch more & even greater tourque increase). Nominal increase in US price. Nearly all details to be known at some point in March.

    That's what I heard too.

Can't wait for the new Porsche!

I already feel bored and underpower with my Lotus.

    Re: Facelift timeline

Well I hope you all are right......and the March 09 info I heard was incorrect (or misinformation)....if I were Porsche I would be protecting current year sales also.

BTW....US allocate #s I heard (for this year) were to be approx 30% lower for the line......each model with it's own #s but 911 maybe 17 or 18%......& my feeling was that it had more to do with the current value of the dollar than anything else....just my opin.

I really like that strip on the 4/4S. I wish they put that on all facelift 911.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the facelift won't touch the engines:

    Yes that's what AMS says.
But IMO a cosmetic facelift is very pointless without DFI and DSG and therefore unlikely. Unless of course Porsche haven't managed to apply these now ubiquitous technologies successfully to their cars, which is pitiful.

BUT, the past has shown that most facelifts MKII come with minor engine upgrades as well. For porsche not to upgrade the 911 during this facelift would be a crime!

ITS FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION, so if the function didn't change , why change the form!

Probably just some friendly turn by AMS to help PAG sell some pre-facelift 997s.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Even if the facelift came with DFI and DSG, if history has taught us anything, you should consider waiting another year to upgrade, as the gremlins usually surface after cars reach the public's hands. As for the facelift introduction date, I would guess earlier than later.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

My friend ordered the first facelift to arrive in our opc , and he was told it would come in september.Usually our dealer is rather correct in his info. About the specs he told me he doesn't know anything more than we do.
The lips of porsche are sealed at this moment. He also told the cayman is constantly gaining interested people, but most of them choose the 2.7 engine.
997 is still going strong. Cayenne a bit less. he presumes a lot of cayenne-drivers are going to switch to the panamera.

That's why i got mine this year with 20% off and going to enjoy it these coming 2 summers.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

My information says (as always unofficial...)....facelift to be introduced to the public in spring (Geneva Auto Salon). Carreras will have DFI and more power (approx. 20hp) plus more torque.

First cars in showroom and with customers by June/July before factory break. That timeline matches the original introduction of 997 in 2004 (german market). Convertibles and 4/4S by September 2008.

BTW...I will be one of these first customers to receive a Carrera S in July.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

P.S. Look at the ams pix...new rims.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I noticed in the on-line configurator that some colours will only be available until 04/2008. Does this indicate a changeover of production for the FL models?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

@kashmir: I hope to be one of the first, too. I am waiting for FL cabrio S but I don't know if I can resist until september!
@reginos: I didn't notice that! (But it seems very interesting...)

    Better early than Late.
    (the facelift)

That's right, just wondering if there are new rims for the RS.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    I like those rims .

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    I'll second that!

    Technically correct.
Runs through Sunday the 16th, which is still 'winter'......."Spring" is the 20th.

...in times of global warming March counts already as spring...;-))

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

The new rims look like 70's Fuchs

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Interesting for potential 997FL buyers in the US, those photos in AMS have the "bumperettes" on the back . Bad news that they still have them on the FL, good news is that they are testing US models - or do they have them installed for other markets in the world as well ?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Hi All, i met with my local porsche dealer yesterday who offered me a facelift car for July delivery. (deposit down now)I enquired about spec. DSG, front and back end facelift, 25BHP increase, bluetooth, touch screen. On the gearbox front, could not confirm right now if DSG is going to be available. Some new colours. spec to be agreed later.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Anyone remember when is the 996 RS mk2 due after the 996 facelifted?

The waiting is driving me crazy!

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I think the 996 GT3 MKII was released approx 18 month after facelift 996.

I wondered a little about the touchscreen... it may make sense since Porsche Desin just cooperated a mobile GPS device with Navigon.
