Upsa:Upsa:Any idea when the new Bentley GT is due to be released? Spyshots? I heard it would come out in 2018 and is based on the speed 6 concept.
I ask because then I could pick up a hugely depreciated 2017 W12
I did it, got a 2016 W12 Mulliner for about half the price as the new model
Congrats, very nice.

Upsa:Many thanks Christan! A bit of an old school gas guzzler but I think it will age well & the kids are comfy in the back seats
Don't worry about that, enjoy life and the family.

Ok, now it’s done.... I never wear white socks, shoes or adult diapers, but yeasterday I ordered a Bentley GT.😱 Long waiting, will receive it next spring, but I really think it will be a very nice, cozy DD. Migh keep the Panameran TS for some time, put we’ll see. Would give me some space problems.
Driving my fourth Panameran and felt I needed something new. Since I also started to drive 5he cup car quit a lot, I thought would be a nice contrast to drive this kind of a car from time to time. And as Nick said, it is pretty much a 928, with some more craftsmanship in to it.
Try to find this tread in a years time and post my findings

OK, just to be honest: In my opinion, a Bentley GT doesn't make sense next to a Panamera Turbo S but hey, if you have the money and want that car badly, why not?
Congrats.

In our part of the world a Bentley is perceived as a far superior car to a Panamera. I have a Bentley GT & a 911 Turbo S, vastly different in usage & the Porsche is faster but not a patch on the GT in terms of comfort, elegance, interior etc. That Panamera is nothing special at all whatsoever, at least here - i can't say about European perceptions
In the UK, I'd say the Panamera was perceived as a more expensive Audi A7? Bentley is in a different market. Not sure many would cross-shop them. Personally, I'd like either but only if someone else was taking the depreciation hit.

The perception of Bentley in Germany depends on the city and region you live in. We have a family friend, he owns two Bentley Continental sedans (both in white ) but he owns one of the biggest chair making factories in Germany, so...people expect this car from him. I also have a customer who is an entrepreneur and she drives a Bentley GT Coupe convertible. She is well known in the city (some of the buildings here are named after her...), so people expect this kind of car from her. Then, there is a real estate guy I know who also has a Bentley GT but his experience is pretty bad (according to him), especially the police stops him all the time (he has a migration background and a bit darker skin, so... ). His next car is going to be a Mercedes S63 (I think he already ordered it).
In Munich, you can see tons of Bentleys, no problem but in certain regions, it could be perceived at the same level as Ferrari or...Corvettes.
Panamera? Ranges from "glorified Audi" to "great Porsche". Reputation was a bit better though in the past, many women liked the car (incl. my wife) but now...not so much anymore, it kind of lost it's appeal, for whatever reason. Or the Macan stole the show.

in France, a Panamera is most of the time visible in Diesel. ...but still a rare car.
Bentley is even rarer...
both carry a high end luxury side but Bentley remains above with Rolls at the top of the food chain. never saw one in my region...
here in UAE, you see more Bentley than Panamera and Panamera is priced crazy high because Porsche wants to advertise it as luxury sport car .... FAIL. but here it is a special market...show off is legion.

Had the opportunity to see the new auto at my Bentley dealership last evening. Surprised by the imposing size that does transmit in photographs, but that said, one can truly live with this automobile. If having to have only one auto for the rest of life, this would be the one.

The comparison between the Panamera and the Continental is terrible.
The Porsche has a bland design, looks like a random car -not under the radar precisely but random in a bad way I mean- and lacks of proportions depending on the angle you see it.
The Bentley has much more presence overall, it's a very good looking car.
The interior of the "British" is a nicer place to be. Cozy, fine materials, well designed.
How do they drive? Well, imho in this segment one should look for the best compromise firm-but-comfy ride. The Panamera might be faster through corners but I think the Continental has this "riding-on-a-carpet" feel without missing that wouldn't be a boat in the corners either.

Time for a short update. Visited Crewe a couple of weeks ago (the Bentley factory) and was really amazed by the craftsmanship. These cars are handmade for real. Got a private tour and got a good view on how they build the cars and how they work with the details. I do like my Porsche’s, but think I will love getting in to this DD. Porsche are making cars by hundred of thousands and last year Bentley had there all time high, a little bit north of 11.000 cars built. I think I crossed every option awaiable except the Naim radio. Not due to price, but the look of the Bang & Olufsen is just better IMO and quite sufficient .
And I do like the British way to talk to their customers. I ordered the car in Cumbrian green. They didn’t have one at sight to show me, since it’s not so common. When my guide saw me getting hesitant he just said. “ It IS not common, but very nice and elegant. From time to time, the royal family orders a Bentley and Cumbrian green is their most common choice in color. It’s a perfect color for both the city and the country side, they seem pleased, so I’m sure you will be as well....”
Not the cheapest car out there, ended up at 275k€, but to me it’s a big difference between”a lot of money” and “expensive”. This is lot of money, not so expensive😎 I also said I wanted the car earlier, so hopefully I’ll be able to have it in order give it to myself as a Christmas present. If so, I’ll update this thread with some pictures of the new, cosy, 333 kph top speed capable, daily driver
10 of these is fitted in to my car. Only bull hides are used (19 in a Mulsanne ) I’m not going with this color, I’m going with black, but same size👍
