    Removing Rear seat in a 996

    I want to put a child seat in the rear and remove the backseat to create more space. How do these seats come off? My car is a 2003 C4S.

    I did it quite a while ago and it was a no brainer.

    BTW, I'm in the same situation. Well... in just a few months. What kind of child seat will you use?

    Thanks for your help and congratulations on your wonderful news. It took some convincing to get my wife to accept a sports car with two kids and a bit of a struggle once I took delivery of the 911 in order to get the child seats properly installed. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, so one in a child seat and another in a booster. For my youngest I found that a britax worked best - I removed the wide base on the bottom and removed the seat cushon and found that it fit pretty good. For my oldest I had to shop for a booster seat that was narrow enought to fit in the narrow seat and found a brand called Clik (not sure of the exact spelling). There is a child anchor in the 911's for a tether strap that is perforated and needs to be cut out to gain full access. All said and done my kids love the car, my wife is happy that the kids are safe and I am happy to drive a 911 and have a happy family. You will need a baby seat and I am not sure how those will fit in the backseat as their bases are typically quite wide. You may need to do the front seat and deactivate the airbag.

    Glen,

    Where are the anchors for the child seat. My rear shelf of my C4S has the cut outs but I don't see any anchors in there.

    Could it be that my 02 C4S does not have anchors?

    I am looking to get between an 05' and an 08' convertible in the next month or so. Wife has given me the okay! I have never had a Porsche. I have to pick my kids 3 & 1 up at daycare. It is only a mile from my home. Can I fit two child seats in the back without having to take the seats out? Oddly this is another Glenn asking the question. My choice it seems is be responsible and buy a Range Rover or buy the Porsche. I am truly trying to justify the Porsche. So for the folks with kids and a porsche what do you recommend?

    all you need to do is take a sharp blade (i used a dywall knife) and where you see the cutouts you just need to cut deeper through the foam insulation and once you get through it will pop up and you will see the anchor.

    if you can get the 3 yr old into a booster seat with no back, you will have enought room. A child seat makes it tight and I have my 2 yr old in one but intend to remove the back seat to give it a little more room as the front seat needs to be moved quite far forward to give it enough room. I am in the same boat and pick both my kids up at daycare. So far no problems with it and the kids just love the car. You should go with the Porsche.

    Thanks, I found on the international Porsche website child car seats. I am going to the dealership on Sunday to begin the shopping process!!! !! Not sure yet if I am going new or used. I could do a new coupe in a heartbeat, but I really want a conv. and the price ticks up a abit there.

    keep in mind there is less space in the backseat of a conv for child seats. Not exactly sure what the difference is but I think a couple of inches.
