    SciFrog:

    180k for a steel watch?

Not mine and not sure it is steel, I think it is white gold? (I may be wrong, didn't care much about this watch).

RC, be careful with all these watches that you think might hold their value. When comes time to get rid of them, if ever, trading in might be OK but it will require to add money, but selling them will be another story. The whole industry and buyers have a huge incentive of talking these prices up, and people don’t need to sell very often, but when they do it is never as pretty as you think.

I do not care about reselling them, I get what I like, similar to cars.

Personally I would never buy something unless it is 100% exactly what I want and never above MSRP. I also buy things to wear and not to stash away somewhere, which is for example why I probably will never buy the $180k RM I like because it looks sporty so I would want to wear it during the day and not worry about abusing it, but I would hate to think how much it would cost to fix a small abuses on it. So in the end it makes no sense. The Rolex and Panera and sporty AP on the other end can get abused and look better doing so and are cheap to polish.

The only watch I bought over MSRP was the Nautilus and I really wanted it. If it looses value, well...I don't care. Sometimes I win in life, sometimes I loose...not a problem. Smiley

Some watches you have to pay MSRP but the dealer might throw you a free item or a good discount on something else. Sorry for you Noone1 but many of us ARE paying MSRP or you are not getting the watch because they WILL sell it within days to someone else...

True but usually, I get a 20-30% discount for basically any watch, unless it is in very high demand and/or a collector's limited edition item (not many of those though).

I wanted to have the AP ROO Bucherer for a very long time but prices were in the 29-32k EUR range, sometimes even higher...for used ones. This time, I was (maybe) lucky because my buddy wanted that AP Skeleton Tourbillon and I wanted the Bucherer. It may also have helped that the dealer had the Bucherer in stock for more than a year (my friend told me, he saw it often there), so he clearly wasn't able to sell it at the asking price.

Not many watches left I want to be honest, I am pretty happy. Smiley Also, my watch budget is kind of gone and the stock markets don't look good enough to give me any hope for some fast money right now. So...back to cars. Smiley

    Thank youSmiley

No 30% I'm afraid but I got 20% (dealer had excuse that this is a new model...bla bla bla) but I was still happy since he usually doesn't give much discount on Rolex watches (exception are Yachtmaster models, apparently). Got much less discount for my DeepSea (10% I think, don't remember anymore but it wasn't the usual "good" discount). Very good discounts for Omega and Hublot, easily 20-30%. The Breitling was even 35% I think...the gold one, don't remember the name.

My jeweler cannot get APs anymore though, he doesn't want to talk about it but I think one of his competitors got the license to sell AP and he "lost" it. Just a wild guess though but no more new APs from him, which is sad.

Yes, the Daytona wears a bit too small (maybe due to the Oysterflex wrist band?) but I like to wear it with long sleeves, not so much with short sleeves (there I prefer the APs or the Nautilus).

Tried the Aquanaut on recently, holy molly, this watch looks much bigger than the Nautilus.

OK, getting my Audi Performance Parts wheels next week, incl. Michelin Cup 2 tires. Can't wait... blush

8000 EUR incl. VAT, install and a 36 months tire protection insurance (apparently covering even self-inflicted damage).

Wheel set is 7 kg lighter, meaning around 1.75 kg less weight per wheel, not really much lighter but OK. I would save even more weight using the new titanium brake pads but they cost over 2k EUR. Ouch.

Cool. I bet you will feel an improvement as the weight is unsprung rotating mass. And quite a large diameter at that.

Smiley This is actually imprinted in the rim...

According to the parts guy at Audi, the Cup 2 should be a couple of hundreds of grams lighter than the PZero. So basically around 2 kg per wheel less unsprung weight, not bad.

Wishful thinking...I guess. The are also talking about a V10 Turbo engine, which would be amazing (to allow to raise power substantially) but highly doubtful.

VW Group recently re-organized their car business, Audi has become a Premium brand and Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley and Bugatti a Super Premium brand. Not sure where a R8 would fit in.

I don't see why not. VW can stick just about any body/badge on any platform.

I personally don't think the R8 is going to disappear.

I hope you are wrong, but I am afraid you are correct. If this will not happen I will keep my R8 for a long time. I might change my mind if a special limited version with some hp will be introduced at the end!

I plan to keep my current R8 for the whole lease period. I kind of have the feeling that the facelift won't be that sensational and the rumored R8 GT will probably be out of my price range (lease) anyway. A R8 GT would probably be in higher demand than a regular R8 or even the RWS.

I badly wanted the facelift or even a V10 Plus Spyder but then I had a talk with a friend and he asked me why I would want to go for the facelift since it is going to be quieter for sure (particulate filter and the current issues Audi had with the R8 in the US...) and it won't be much faster than my R8. He is right. I would want a R8 GT though but I am pretty sure that Audi will "milk" this cow quite well, meaning that it is going to be marketed as some sorts of special edition or limited edition car. It may not have worked with the RWS but with the GT? Things could be different.

Long story short: I bought the new wheel set (Performance Parts) for my R8, so I am sticking to this car for the next 28 months (my lease is 4 years). After that, I'll see.

If my dealer offers me a deal similar to the one Porsche offered me (same lease rate, new facelift car), I could say yes but giving away my current R8, a car which has been very reliable and fast from day one, doesn't make sense. Especially since it would certainly cost me much more than my current lease rate. Smiley

They look much better live, manufacturer is same one who supplies wheels for the LMS.

    throt:

Cool. I likey the black rims much more blush..

The Lamborghini manager came over when he saw my car (dealership is across the parking lot, same company) and admired the wheels, also they took a couple of photos for their own photo album, so they can show them to customers.

Had my car parked for 10 minutes in front of my house and the neighbor (the one with the many cars) came over and admired the new wheels as well, he said Audi should have offered them from the start as a standard option.

So far so good...kids love them too but...and here it comes...the TPMS sensors don't seem to work correctly, I get no tire pressure or temperature. My mechanic already tried everything possible, even reset the ECU, everything but it doesn't work. Even drove over 80 km, so maybe the system needs to "learn" (suggestion from an Audi Sport engineer) but no chance. Smiley So now they bring me a new R8 next week and pick up my car to fix the issue. I can drive it, no problem (can't drive it too fast anyway since I need to run in the tires around 300 km) but I have no working tire pressure monitor.

Also funny: I got a "job" as a "driver" today, for Audi RS/R8 models and even Lamborghini (Huracan/Urus). Reason is simple: Dealer cars cannot be sold without a certain amount of mileage (for tax reasons), so they need to be driven. Since sales persons are not allowed to drive R8/Lambo models home or take them for a weekend (company policy), only RS models for certain Audi Sport sales persons, these cars don't have enough mileage. Customers get test-drives only through recommendations or if they are previous customers, so not many interested buyers qualify for test-drives.

So now I will be the one who will drive them on weekends or whenever I have time. Only condition: I need to put minimum 500 km on them each time. No problem. Smiley No, I don't get paid (would be too much to ask Smiley).
