    997 GT2 or Scuderia

    Hi Folks,
    Newby here!
So orders have been placed and confirmed. It'll be decision time soon, Which would you go for - help me out please - I can't afford both! It's a dilemma but a nice one!
Let me know what you think.
    Regards

    Depends what you want.

    A driver's car or a poseur's car.

I think I'll go to bed now.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

Well, having driven neither car I can only assume that the Ferrari will be louder, more involving, flashier looking, and more flattering (safer) to the average driver. The GT2 on the other hand will probably be faster in both a straight line and around a track, more subdued looks and sound, trickier to drive but therefore perhaps more involving/rewarding at the limit. Both cars are simply amazing machines with comparable performance, its the way they go about achieving this performance which seperates the two.

    Better hurry up!

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

The GT2 will take a bigger hit on resale, but if you don't care about that it's an amazing car. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with the Scud either, but you'll probably have to wait longer for it. Oh, and the GT2 will have lower operating costs as well.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I can speak only for myself: I hate turbo's so for me the decision was simple.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

    get the scud!

Just because the GT2 has a ridiculous wing ...does not make it a poseur's car.

But, I would get the driver's car, too.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

    No dilemma to me

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

    Go where the passion is.
    The Scud IS the revolution!

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

Monica Bellucci or Claudia Schiffer? Hard choice if you cannot afford both.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

Chris Harris, hardcore porsche fanboy speaks :

And the verdict: Forza Scuderia. There can be no doubt that of these two new arrivals, it's the Ferrari that has you reaching more frequently for hyperbole. That's as much to do with the sheer enthusiasm it draws from any driver as the fact that I think it's the best road car the company currently sells.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

    My vote to Scud!

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I'm a big Porsche fan choosing allways a Porker over a Ferrari... but why don't you consider a GT3 RS instead? The Scuderia is better car than the GT2 but in the same time I agree with the guys from EVO saying that the GT3RS is better than Scuderia, because the scuderia is too much of "look at me, I come from F1.... " oyu know.... get the GT3RS!!!

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

The GT2 is the better car. The Scuderia is the better toy. It all depends on what you are looking for. We can't make that choice for you.

Hey Clive - firstly a big welcome over to Rennteam!!

Secondly, I had a chat with one of my OPC's Sales guys yesterday and apparently they have a new GT2 out the back (not for general public to see). He was saying that the GT2 looks didn't really impress him much, neither did the sound. He hadn't driven it yet but I detected a slight amount of disappointment in his description of the car.

...he loved my new wheels BTW though

So if it were me and I had GT2/Scud money burning a hole in my pocket, I would go with the Ferrari. Your old yellow 997 Turbo didn't seem to do if for you enough to be a keeper so I think you need a bit more WOW!

PS: Can I have a ride please if you get the Scud?!

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I must admit that I have not driven either car In case of the GT2 this will change shortly...

Comparing both cars (without driving them) the Scuderia is clearly a work of art. The car is simply special (interior and exterior). Looking at the car there are simply so many nice details to discover. The Scuderia is an exotic sports car with a unique real life impression. Based on the facts known to date the Scuderia is also quite fast on the track.

The GT2 is a bit boring and not really good looking (I am thinking of the rear part in particular). However, I have no doubt that the GT2 is the faster car (straight line and track). In addition, the GT2 can be used as a daily driver, is even available with winter tires.

In summary, if you are looking for a car that offers a truely special flair each time you drive it I would suggest the Scuderia. If you want the faster and more efficient car go for the GT2. Both are excellent

The choice between these two ladies would be much easier for me than the decision about the car

What about Monica Bellucci and Heidi Klum. I think that's even harder to choose!

No way! That's far easier than the first one, for me any time
Bellucci > Schiffer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Klum. mirk

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I've owned three porsches... the latest being a 997 C2S Cab... I've driven a 996 TT, 996 GT3, 996 GT2, 997 GT3, and a 997 TT... but not a 997 GT2... someone on this thread said the scuderia is a safer ride... (!!!) switch it to full race/track mode, and you get a car as demanding (if not more) than any production car porsche can come up with! and they have managed to it make also as drivable (daily) as a 997 TT (almost)! not to mention that "je ne sais quoi" you get when you're in a Ferrari!

I am not gonna even bother and go into value, resale value, etc... you will just get killed with the 997 GT2... honestly? I'd rather own a 993 GT2!!!

another comment was track-time... I have tried not to miss a single article (online and offline), and I haven't seen any track-time comparisons, for anyone to claim the 997 GT2 would lap faster than a Scuderia... but interestingly enough, the Scuderia has lapped the fiorano faster than an Enzo (or just as fast, to officially not offend Enzo owners)...

go through any criteria you like, drivability (daily driver, especially with the auto mode option), looks, value, performance, the scuderia ends up beating the 997 GT2 any day of the week, and twice on sundays!

needless to say I have a deposit on a Scuderia, with october factory pick-up... and I'm learning more and more everyday to appreciate the wait... "ferraris come to those who wait" :-)

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I sat in a F430 a few hours ago with a Tubi exhaust fitted - wow wow wow!! I imagine a scud would sound just like that

Does have a little certain something that Porsche is sorely lacking...

I think a Tubi is in order for my Turbo too.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

Thanks everybody. Great feedback. I believe the jury's still out.
GT2 track driving impressions in the comics seem thin on the ground at present, but I shall be driving a demonstrator at Millbrook next month so this may help with the decision.
    Regards.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I think you will never regret buying the GT2,
but i also think you don't know what you're missing..

I think if you have to choose between a ford focus and a toyota corolla, choose the better/cheaper/... one,
but with this cars, buy the one you're dreaming of!!

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

I ordered the scud. No doubt is more exiting and performing car... from 0-200 to.
Monica Bellucci..... if you ask me....

haha hey yeah i picked the ford focus

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

Personally I would take the GT2 because it looks better.

    Re: 997 GT2 or Scuderia

someone know 0-200 kmh times for both cars? I know only 10,5-11 s for the scud ...
beside the accell times.. the scud is a real jewel compared to the gt2... to much money for a turbo - 4 WD and rear seats!!! imho, of course..

    997 GT2 0-200 kph - 11.2.
BTW there are no rear seats.
