it makes me feel a lot worse actually....hence my idea for transparency in the way car manufacturers allocate certain vehicles... ok, maybe not all of them go to the lottery....but at least 5-10 cars....it would be a wonderful event...where people who have bought so many cars from Porsche feel they at least have a chance....

The centrepiece of the limited special edition
The concept cars’ body is based on the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. The fenders, as well as the front and rear bonnet are made from lightweight carbon fibre composite while the chassis was taken from the 911 GT3. Furthermore, the GT development department provided the exhaust system with its titanium tailpipes and the drivetrain including the manually operated six-speed gearbox. The same goes for the centrepiece of the limited special edition: The Speedster Concept is powered by a naturally-aspirated flat-six engine developing more than 500 hp and capable of engine speeds up to 9,000 rpm.
Moser:its very sad that someone how has purchased 8 over the last 12 years can't even get a whiff of getting on a list to buy this car.....
Why don't the car companies make these limited special edition and then have a lottery for the customers and make the process fully transparent. To qualify for the lottery you have show proof of funds to be able to purchase the vehicle, and put at least 50% deposit. From there on you get a lottery ticket for the car... it could be a marketing masterpiece in my honest opinion, where actual Porsche fans and lovers are given a fair chance to get the car of their dreams....Of course there would be conditions attached to the sale such as not being able to resell the vehicle for at least two years or something along those lines...
I've asked me dealer in Lebanon for an allocation, but he said we would be lucky if Lebanon got even 1. He took my name down, but I know there are many people above who have purchased 918 spyders and other ltd edtion models...
Moser
Just not many years ago they had problems to sell all the 918s...how quick things change...
First, all the BS it takes to get allocation leaves sufficiently bad taste to dissuade interest. Second, PDK a better choice than MT for this car in my opinion. Third, styling and details a little overworked.

1948 units is a lot of cars. I think a lot of people who wants one can get one?!
I'm in for one. Don't think I will have any trouble as Whoopsy (#1 VVVIP at my dealer) is not getting one.

nberry:I don’t believe the Speedster has a retractable top. It has a removable top. Need to check the weather each time you drive it.
Btw, I’m guessing the price will be around $200,000.
Nick - you live in San Diego. No need to check the weather (72F and Sunny) Most suitable large city on Earth for a Speedster.
I bet the price is way over $200k if you choose any of the Heritage options...

The silver Speedster concept looked great in person at Rennsport Reunion.
Wolfgang Porsche stopped by the PCA tent for a brief speech, along with Detlev Von Platen. DvP mentioned their goal was to sell one less Porsche than the market would take, without mentioning models. They didn't take questions, so nobody asked what about the impossible (for the normal guy) to get GT allocations?
I did ask a PCNA guy about it, he had no explanation.

Grant, the price probably closer to $225,000. I would agree with options closer to $250,000. Received a call from my SA today and he indicated that the dealership probably will have a ADM on the Speedster. A deal breaker for me.
Being adventurous can be risky but routine is lethal.
ISUK:If it makes you feel better Moser I've bought at least 21 Porsches over the past 13 years and been responsible for family members buying another 4 cars from my dealer and I will likely have zero chance of getting one either.
Same here. I will make do with some other toys instead!

Yeah, unless they are going to start giving you over msrp for your trade-in's, I'd tell them to stick their ADM where the sun doesn't shine
