nberry:Mike, it will al depend on the price of the car. If its little more than the RS I'm OK with that. But if they start charging over $250,000 I have my limits.

Whoopsy:Mostly it’s what you see is what you get.
I don’t regret turning it down.
If I buy a Speedster it will be a 89 or 94
Or better yet, a 356

Nick, are you saying the pictures of the concept model will be the final production car? Also, when do they plan to start building and delivering the car?
Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great.
What change of message? All their Cayenne, Panamera, special editions and higher specs cars are overpriced already. It would not change anything to their message.
The only cars prices correctly are the GTx cars (but that is changing) and the Macan in higher specs. Resale value of GTx cars has been artificially manipulated by Porche but that seems to be coming to an end too. Porsche is smart, why let the speculators, connected people and dealers make all the money? Same thing is happening in the live concert world. People are finally getting smart after decades.

nberry:Here is a 1955 Speedster. It stole the show at our 70th Porsche birthday drive around today. I don't know why these pictures are sideways and can't straighten them out. I also included a picture while we were driving out from the Del Coronado where over 70 Porsche's were parked. We then participated in a 2 hour drive through San Diego, La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe.
That’s not a Speedster. That one is a 550 A Spyder and an update to James Dean’s fateful Little Bastard.

Whoopsy:It is mostly correct except for the mirrors. Nothing else needed to be changed
Hi Whoopsy, what did the earlier concept have which you VIPreviewed that changed in the unveiled concept?
Is there anything that Porsche could change on the Speedster to make you decide to take yours?
Is it that there is another 70th anniversary limited edition model that you expect to prefer?
I gather that you plan to order the GT2 RS Club Sport track racer!
Thanks for your feedback, sir!
The rear treatment with the two layers and the central section makes it look less bulbous than previous Speedsters. I like it, but not the two-tone paint scheme and not those mirrors.
I hope they make this leather color available on other models. Closer to the older Natural Brown. Not a fan of the current natural brown, which looks more like chocolate.

I think the roof will be partially automatic like in the previous Speedster or 981 Boxster Spyder.
Pretty sure the interior is going to be what will be available to choose from. The concept car is the finished car IMO, minus the side mirrors, hood pins and possibly the hood filler cap.

I find the speedster very curious
previous editions (except the original) in my eye have looked awkward and the market at the time of sale didn't go that mad for them
this edition feels to me to be very desirable because to me the styling flows better and secondly, the gt3 engine, manual, then of course its limited.
I get the fact Im not perhaps the typical customer - or perhaps I am - who knows?
I do however think it needs a roof to sell otherwise will almost never be driven - even in the hottest countries where roof down isn't always an option.....

nberry:The Speedster needs a top. Without it, the car could only be used close to home plus a resident weather man. I for one wouldn’t want a car without a top regardless of the heritage crap.
Agreed. But a manually operated top is sufficient.
