    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I think Dave trying to go from a 991GT3.1 to a Gen2RS was really the deal stopper.

I think the UK pattern works like this for GT lovers,

    gen1GT3 to gen1RS

    gen1RS back to gen2GT3

    then gen2GT3 to gen2RS.

if your going to part ex your gen1GT3 for a RS your going to be up against hungry gen2GT3 owners ( and gen1RS) wanting to do the same. We all know what scenario is going to be more fruitful for the dealer..

But Dave, really, keep your cool and hang in there. A good Porsche outfit will prove the above wrong.

Was with the Ferrari dealer yesterday and a interesting take away was that they have ZERO Control of who gets a Pista - Ferrari will decide based on THEIR data and particularly how long you kept previous models - maybe Porsche could learn something from them......- I must say I like the part very much of where they track the VIN how long a customer keeps their cars and services them - way to go ! kiss

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I don't think they give a toss what Porche(s) you own as a factor into the decision here - just how much you spend. It's not like the UK, used cars barely sell at all here.

I even heard that they added some production slots recently (last week?) for the first batch.

Oh...second batch won't come before late autumn. Earliest. Maybe even early into 2019 (this is the latest rumor).

Exactly, keep your cool and stay in touch.

I was talking to my sales guy, him and the sales manager were saying how nasty the phone calls were becoming. They themselves are getting fed up now, to a degree of course. Oh, forgot to mention something important: The latest rumor also indicates that the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen (not sure about Leipzig) will be closed(!) for almost two(!) months(!), probably August and September, for the switch to particulate filters and the preparing of 992 production.

So I wouldn't expect a second batch too soon...

Just pisses me off that half these VIP cars will end up on Autoscout 1 day later for 400k, where they will sit for ever because no-one is stupid enough to pay that. There are still 0km .1RS cars there unsold from launch time.

If it were up to me I would take the GT3-2/RS allocations from dealer's hands and assign them directly from factory to the clients, create a point system, the more points you have the higher up you are on the list, the more track events you can prove you attended with a 911 the more points you have, the more miles you made your previous 911 the more points you get, if they are GT3/RS miles even more points, the longer you kept your previous GT car the more points, if you sold it before 6 month you loose a ton of points, etc... poseurs and flippers? don't let the door hit you on your a$$ on the way out, thank you. One can only dream....

This is an excellent idea. The current system is highly problematical and has destroyed a lot of loyalty of long-term customers. In the next downturn most of those new buyers who seem attractive to the Porsche dealers these days will be gone - as many of them are just there because they think the GT cars "are a good investment". That is nonsense, of course. The GT cars (all of the 991 generation) are mass produced, i.e. many more made then needed in normal times.

Nice idea but there is a simpler way: Dutch auctions.

They release the allocations in large batches and extract maximum $$. Same solution than for event tickets. Easy, efficient, elegant and fair if you add a small fraction (10%) at a lower price with a lottery. But it will never happen because some people make too much money with the current systems. In the end it is just a car and there are plenty of other good cars around...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

On RL a guy just posted he received GT3RS allocation. Here is what he posted. You'll better understand the system. The dealer will make the money yet again on the car. Also, the owner will take a hit on trade in because of the track miles. In CA, trading in a car makes no sense. You still are taxed on the full value of the new car. That's why I usually sell my car back to the dealer once I know my car is on the boat.

"Just got the good news on an allocation this PM. Commission # C49--- , lock date 7/7/18, delivery in Sarasota 10/26.
One condition of the deal, cannot track the '18 GT Silver GT3 anymore and trade it in. Just cancelled CHIN at Sebring for this weekend and all plans for summer track dates."

Why is Porsche giving build dates for US cars in September? For an example, my car enters the body shop on August 31st and is completed on September 7th? If Porsche knows it going to close the factory for two months (August and September) why mislead the customer?Smiley

Have you received your build schedule? BTW, you're going to love Sapphire Blue on your GT3. BTW are you going with LED's?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Well I gave them my specs, paid a 10% deposit, and was told to choose which production slot I wanted (picked August). All that was done by my cousin in the UAE as I am currently in the US. Will as about it soon but I'm not in a hurry as I won't be back until it gets really hot there

When sapphire blue was introduced I had a Macan on order and regretted not waiting for it as there would have been a delay if I went with Sapphire. I picked Agate and got bored from it too soon. This time I made sure that I picked it.

No LEDs for me as roads in the UAE are well lit so no reason to waste money on it. Do you have them?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

So your car will be a EU car?

I had Sapphire Blue on my 2017 Targa and did not opt for the LED's. My GT3 is GR and I did order LED's and they look great. BTW, I ordered them for the overall look. It is a very rare if ever when I drive my GT3 at night. Same can be said for windshield wipers. Never drive my car in the rain or threat of rain.

It will be a ROW car (UAE) but they are similar to EU cars (without the added particulate filter).

Been in the US for 7 years now, the time has come to go home (relocating this summer).

The touring package in black gives me tinted front and rear lights.

The Sapphire Blue on a Targa is a great combination.

Did you go with the bucket seats? I chose the folding buckets for the added convenience of using the rear.
