oh boy Verstappen...he is so impatient he can't even for the right moment to overtake...Obviously he was much faster than Vettel...but no! he could not do it properly and create a mess for Vettel and of course for himself. There is a difference between speed and overhastiness...
Kudos to Ricciardo! clean moves not like...well...

Yeah, that was a bit of a dumb move. I am happy that in the post race interview with Dutch press, he stepped up and owned it, which means he learnt from it. To be honest, the gap opened up and I think he was a bit surprised and went for it a bit overhasted... well, still a great and exciting race, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Porsche, separates Le Mans from Le Boys
Seems pretty clear that Red Bull will not have a competitive car for the foreseeable future. Neither Renault nor Honda seem to be able to produce a power unit which is both quick and reliable.
Will be interesting to see where DR ends up next year.
Ironic that he was being asked about his plans for 2019 at the post-race press conference, flanked by KR and VB.

Spyderidol:Good GP. Nice to see Red Bull winning again, but....once again a SC has influenced the result of a GP.
Its good that it shakes things up, but for me gives too much importance to lady luck.
Luck has always been part of racing, if not for Lady Luck, Nico Rosberg would have never won the 2016 championship.

Agreed. She always has a part. I just prefer her role to be overshadowed by other criteria (i.e. Stronger performances, better race management, race setup , etc, etc)

I think in this case, it was part luck, part strategy.
Red Bull had nothing to lose but gamble on the tire change. As I understand, Bottas had no chance to pit, but Hamilton was far enough back that he could have pitted with the Red Bulls. Mercedes didn't make the quick call, Red Bull did. I count that as better race management, quick on the spot thinking. I believe Mercedes run the team too much on planning and data, not gut calls like how Horner did. Mercedes think track position is more important than fresh sticky tires. Obviously that's wrong call in hindsight.
It was clear seeing the debris on the track, following the Toro Rosso brotherly shunt, that a safety car would have to be called. Perhaps the teams did not see the same TV feed we saw. Quite some time passed between the incident and the safety car being sent out too...
