Listen, I really like BMWs. I must admit that it all depends of your needs. As I see you live in Switzerland. That alone means ice and snow. It depends then. If you need an SUV buy one. If you need something small and quick as easy says then buy the M3 Jeremy Clarckson called it a masterpiece. If you think its too big then buy the 335 (twin turbo suave and 306 BHP.

Estate cars are nice then either buy a ggod turbo diesel either a 545 V8. I dont like the sedan but the estate has something of an interesting line.
X3 is just too small and its not convincing...

The facelifted 530xd sedan (automatic).
Someone in my family has this car, and it seems a good allrounder. Nice big boot, pretty fast actually, nice silent interior, AWD for those rainy days (or snow), silky smooth automatic and not to big to park in those narrow spaces.
Really, the AWD is a huge advantage. Someone else in the family has a 530d RWD manual, and this guy always complains over the low levels of grip in the wet. This is absolutely not the case with the x-drive system.
Good luck finding the right BMW

I would wait about half year for a new 7 series, which will be very big step forward - design will be similar to CS concept and platform will be shared with Rolls Royce.

I have a stock 335 coupe daily driver and love it. very confortable, decently luxurious with the right options and faster than a lot of cars on the road. it also has a nice exhaust note at full boost.
I am a hardcore porsche guy and was very disappointed the other day when I was able to overtake a Cayman S from 80 to 140mph, this may not be important to most people but the 335 is a real sleeper and I recommend it strongly, great car.

BTW: Saw several BMW today (3 series Coupe and Sedan, 7 series, 1 series). And 5 minutes ago the worst case: some pictures of the X6 in the new AutoZeitung.
These cars are all so fugly. I cannot believe what happend to BMW. No wonder they are now laying off masses of people. Something at the company has gone very, very wrong over last years

Right now the only cars I would buy from BMW... are not in production
I would buy a true BMW sport car NOT a sport SEDAN or a sport coupe... but they stopped making one as far as I am concerned.
So IF I would be force in buying a BMW, the 3 series coupe looks easier to MY eye than the rest. And for such a car the new two liter bi-turbo diesel it's just fine. So a 323cd when they will make it. Maybe with DSG too (if they will ever put one in such a car). But that's a big maybe for me.
