Rennteam has devolved into posts about a few barely different Porsche models and emojis.

Car news must be slow these days.

0-100kph, jeez the marketing's getting pretty basic isn't it but still I'll take the vid it's a fun watch.

Interesting that the Mclaren 720S using skinny 305 Corsa  tyres slots in right between the GT2RS and 918  at 2.7s  and then properly destroys them both to 300kph

McLaren has mastered the art of proper traction control setups, no doubt. Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

After spending the last few days running around the the little 4C, I think it's a properly good little sports car.

Carbon tub just like a McLaren, mid engine just like a McLaren. But without the funny doors. Hell even the transmission is also push button operated.

On paper the HP is not much, but the car also weights next to nothing, so it actually have adequate power, feels fast enough and it makes all the right noises during shifting just like a McLaren.

Digital dash? My little Alfa has it too

It's like a mini-me McLaren for sure, at a fraction of the price, rarer too.

Only down side is that it has no power steering, so the wheel is just about impossible to turn when stationary. But once it get going the road feel is excellent, maybe too much feelback perhaps, as every road contour go straight to the wheel and it feels a bit darty at times.

Weird coincidence, this little 4C is white, same colour as my old McLaren 12C  Just missing a black roof.

Interior is sort fo as bare as one can stand, but at least I got a leather dash with contrast stitching.

Not really. It is a fantastic little sports car Alfa Romeo managed to...mess up. Smiley

Looks good, sounds decent. I've seen one recently and it caught my eye. Wouldn't buy though. Too pricey for what it is.

Funny, dealers asked a premium in the beginning and then it went downhill fast. Car just doesn't have street cred, probably because of the messed up steering/chassis setup and maybe even the engine.

    What a pity...

Exactly why I bought a used one at like 35% off retail MSRP.

It's a 4th car and beyond, not even close to being a 2nd car in any garage.

Makes sense. Smiley Fun little sportscar and at 35% off MRSP, definitely worth a shot.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

That engine is actually not bad, with the factory exhaust and basically no insulation it makes some fun sound, and it seems to be very tunable, there are ECU upgrades to make it a 280Hp and beyond, Alfa makes the swap a 10 min job, they physically put the ECU in the engine compartment and extremely accessible, like just right there.

Got rid of the factory Pirellis and now running stickier RE71Rs.

I agree  - 4C fun car, but its relevance to anything McLaren is beyond obtuse.

Oh come on, where else can you find a carbon tub mid engine dual clutch rear wheel drive sports car?

Not that I would do it at these levels since it's already quick enough, but with just a tune (no bolt-ons) apparently the 720s did 9.5 at 146 mph. That's pretty crazy.

No doubt at some stage in the US a car company will be sued for allowing the ESC/TC to be turned off

Did the 720 just leave on line on the ground? Open diff?

McLaren's always have open diffs. They rely on the ABS system to do the modulation. Works most of the time. Lighter too.
