Oh c'mon...Jerking of the engine and gearbox...mail CH will show the same drift skills on dry track, faster, with high revs as it suppose to be with a car such as GT2RS.

track is not too wet, but running the wrong tires.

either the car is way too fast, or he is not smooth with his throttle, or he just want to show off.

definitely not what I call smooth fast wet track driving.

The driver does actually pretty well and he is not (intentionally) drifting, he just tries to achieve a fast lap in rain. Excellent driving skills. Smiley

Not sure why you guys don't like this video, it is pretty impressive in my opinion (ESP off...I assume however he drives on winter tires?)...even more impressive if he drives on semi-slicks (which I'm not quite sure).

Drifting is a skill Chris Harris certainly has but I know drivers who don't come even close to his (CH) drifting skills but probably would destroy him during a fast lap on the track. Drifting is fun but doesn't actually have any purpose when you want to be fast on the track, on the contrary.

Actually, in my opinion, he drives excellent and close to the limit. Smiley

If he wanted to show off, he would really drift elegantly through the curves but then, he would loose time.

leaving aside the skills question (looks like a combo of wet track and excess power more than lack of skills to me fwiw), the sound of this engine is fantastic. methinks someone at porsche in the regular turbo development program should think about capturing some of this as that is the single biggest drawback for me with the turbo....

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

The sound isn't as fantastic as you might think...from the outside. Smiley Smiley

I wish the turbo charged engines would sound like my 991.2 Carrera GTS...this is totally acceptable.

    Absolutely agree.

Guy is really trying very hard NOT to drift, does his best to maintain a proper line and just get the best time possible in these conditions.

With ESP OFF of course it is not going to look as pretty as with it on.

Yeah, but can't blame him for not wanting to play with the center-locks Smiley

Actually, I'm not sure there is a good warm/wet weather tire for this car (aside from Winter/Snow tires)...

GT2RS ran the ring time bone stock other than cranking up the rear wing to maximum downforce. The tires are also production Michelins, but handpicked the 4 best tires from the batch. No other adjustments, not even suspension settings.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

There are reports from customers using their car on the track that say the car reduces power when the water tank is empty (with some LEDs coming on, warning about the reduced power).

Also, one customer car went up into flames due to an engine failure last weekend Smiley

This does not sound 100% convincing...

The first point shouldn't be a surprise - I guess.

The second one: Ohhh....    any more details?

Have heard of an "incident" but wasn't aware it was a customer car... Ouch.

New car, we shouldn't read too much into it. I get the worries though.

Porsche said that since last June when they launch the car. The water tank will be used to lower intake temperature, and when the water tank runs dry the ECU will lower the boost to keep temperature intact. It's not even news if someone was paying attention to what they say last year.

Markus knows that but I think he is referring to this solution not being the best one... Let's just hope this is the only "issue".

You are right. I just expected that the water injection was only used under extreme circumstances to stabilize temperatures. However, it seems the system is more or less used all the time you driving really fast (like track fast).

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Heat soak...something many people aren't aware of. Had a buddy who tuned his RS6 to over 800 hp but was surprised in summer that he probably had only stock power or less. Smiley Smiley Haven't seen him for a long time, maybe he was p.ss.d his car was so slow. Smiley Smiley
