Na Mezger:What has off season testing showed ?
is the Merc still the class of the field
Yes, that is the common interpretation, but it is thought that both Ferrari and Red Bull have come closer to Mercedes.
Porsche, separates Le Mans from Le Boys
Lets see ...merc are at the top, red bull and ferrari a bit far away, then we have a lot surprises...i really hope alonso will have a car to fight with ferrari and red bull, that should be so fun.
sad not to see the grid girls at the start,
hope the F1 will be at least 10% the fun of motogp....then it will be fun to watch again

Well, pro soccer has had the "grid kids" for many years now as players come out onto the pitch.... generally applauded as as feel-good part of what is not always a fair and sporting contest in pro soccer.

Not looking forward to Liberty Media’s obtuse changes and since the Australian Grand Prix starts at 1:00 AM in the States, one values sleep more than watching this disaster unfold as ESPN is providing the coverage. With ESPN, the social justice messaging will go into overdrive.

ESPN is not doing the commentary, it is the European F1 feed, I think from SKY Sports. I watched the qualifying and it was good.

SV was the luckiest person in F1 today!
W/o the VSC he would have finished even behind the party finn (KR), so no need to switch into the party mode
LH/ Merc was obviously way faster, even stuck behind the italian horse Lewis could set faster times than Seb but overtaking isn't possible at most tracks in these days with F1 cars :-(
It's a pitty that the dutchman made to many mistakes but FA did a tremendous job securing Merc #5.

F1 just cant get the safety car process down. Pits must be closed as soon as there is a safety car launched and should only be opened once the safety car is off the circuit. Cars are only allowed in the pits during a safety car for emergency repairs (blown tire, oil leak, etc), but can only leave the pits once the safety car is back in. It's not rocket science! The Americans have done this for years.

@spyderidol
+1
it‘s ridiculous that someone can win under these circumstances only! :-(
SV was clearly only 3rd fastest today, his performance was on the same level as his „hair cut“ (if that's what this mess on his head is called?!).
Today ham luck where transfered to vet, anf ferrari did not mess up as usually, the got an oppotunity and picked it.
mercedes is fastest car, ham was the qui ckest even today.
so 1 ,merc ham
2 ferrari with both pilots
3 rec bull with ricciardo ves tomany errors, maybe due to problems.
4 hpefully mclaren will get better in order to fight for a 5/6 place, haas was incredible fast today.
i have to admit i miss the grid girls.......it seems a gay championship when holding the umbrella is a guy from the team.....my personal opinion...i hate this politaclly correctness nowadays...
boring race, no important overtakes, and i agree close the pit lane when safety car is out.....we are not in a gambling hall

As one had anticipated, ESPN’s F1 coverage this morning was a disaster. https://jalopnik.com/espns-f1-season-opener-broadcast-was-a-catastrophe-1824057087
Evidently, their forte remains with producing paeans of men who think they are women.

I agree the race coverage was terrible, much worse than the qualifying I watched earlier!
Vet was certainly "lucky" though had to fight off Ham more or less the whole race. What was interesting for me to note was Ham needing to slow down fighting Vet due to cooling issues (like any other car has following exhaust heat from the car in front, meaning Mercs are not invincible....). And, Alo on 5th, yeeahhh, finishing a race, in Top 10...
Coverage in Germany was with RTL (only) with Nico Rosberg as a commentator - I would give him a solid 5/10 for his first official appearance. It seems that the group following Merc has become bigger, so I expect this season to be more fun already...
