Base price of the Pista in Germany: 217.563 without VAT, 258.900 including VAT.

Problem for the early birds (=buyers): Ferrari expects you to spec an additional 70k in options.

This is Ferrari: they‘ve just raised the base price of the Pista to 287.185. Smiley

Clever...they realized they were too cheap. 😂

Best deal seems to be the 720S...at around 260k EUR, you get a decently optioned car.

When you consider what you are going to get back when you sell the car, the 720S may not be such a good deal compared to the Pista.

True, the Pista may hold it's value better but if I can get a 720S for less money (for example a good lease deal, good lease deals for Ferraris are basically non-existent), why not?

I would never buy a 720S, McLaren has the tendency to always offer a "better" and faster car shortly after but I have to admit that even a 570S would be interesting, considering the performance only.

Actually, I am surprised that McLaren doesn't put more 570S on the road, the lease deals are interesting (in Germany), prices are interesting as well. Not as cheap as a R8...or a Porsche 911 Turbo S currently but still...interesting deals.

Yes, the good deal would be buying a 720S second hand as McLaren's value tend to fall quickly, but then as you say, by the time you get it second hand, there is a newer version already out as they churn them out fast.

True but even the "older" models are fast as hell...so I give that to them. Smiley

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

So, Sun is contemplating a 488, after seeing and hearing how tight the gear set is on the SI Track Tour, so much tighter than the GT3: down the long straight at Teretonga, the GT3 widely spaced redlines 3-4-5 to 238, and the 488 3-4-5-6.  This tight ratio concept is what made his 9 strides and 2 scuds such great canyon slammers.  So he's even getting Sky interested!

Has anyone seen Aluminium Opaco in person?   Thanks

Only seen in it on front engined V12s where it looks spectacular. I came close to speccing my F12berlinetta in it.

Seen the opaco in the F12 and it's stunning.

I wish it was easy to maintain as I heard otherwise.

    Jean,

Dirt is not the issue. Its stone chips and tar etc. Also if you damage the paint work from a scrape or an accident then getting an even finish on the respray across body panes etc is challenging. If you get this then you should put paint protection film on it for peace of mind, and the it will be easy to maintain.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

    crayphile is correct.

The protection film would defeat the purpose of the opaco though.

Looks like the whole car was carved out of an aluminum block.

I would only choose it if your Ferrari is a garage queen.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

You're not gonna keep it forever. Get it, scratch it up, and sell it off to the next guy.

Satin/matte film would restore the matted look.

But then again those film can be applied to regular shiny paint to make them look matted.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Best thing to do would probably be to get the glossy color you like, then put a matte wrap on it. Then you get the best of both worlds. You can make glossy look matte, but I'm not so sure you can make matte look glossy.

I think the lower redline is why you can use more gears in the Ferrari (and it's going faster too, with more power/torque so need to grab a higher gear).

If you compare the actual gears, I bet the GT3 has lower and closer ratios (with a lower top speed and higher redline, this is possible).

found these Grant, for 488, not sure how to compare with GT3, with this final drive???

    First Gear Ratio (:1) : 3.08
    Second Gear Ratio (:1) : 2.19
    Third Gear Ratio (:1) : 1.63
    Fourth Gear Ratio (:1) : 1.29
    Fifth Gear Ratio (:1) : 1.03
    Sixth Gear Ratio (:1) : 0.84
    Reverse Ratio (:1) : N/A
    Clutch Size : in N/A
    Final Drive Axle Ratio (:1) : 5.14
    Seventh Gear Ratio (:1) : 0.69

You may be right, but the low torque of the GT3 may create the feeling of waiting forever between 8500 rpm [max power] shifts, and the 488 redlines at 8,000 which is pretty high for a turbo.

Maybe Sun - having laid off turbos since the 2011 turbo S - is just having torque attackSmiley

Thanks. Yes, love the look, would not film it and it would get driven hard, so....   maybe Argento.  The car does not look good in Silverstone.
