bridggar:Given your obsession, does the manky rust on the hubs not drive you insane?
It should, but you have to pick your battles. If it was on my RS than absolutely it would drive me crazy. On my daily not so much. It doesn't look as bad in real life as it does in the pics (my excuse for not addressing it).
nberry:What do you use for tire dressing and how do you apply it? Spraying it directly on to the tire doesn’t work for me. Invariably it runs on to the wheel.
I use Carpro Perl and use a foam block to apply the dressing. For a dressing you spray on you can spray it onto a brush and then brush it on the tire. Just be sure to wipe the tire down with a towel later to even out the dressing.

Nice results but don’t all these cleaning products pollute as you rinse them off? Not that I’m offended terribly or anything, it just seems like a lot of chemicals not to mention water. It is the type of car fun that, like burnouts and gas guzzling, will stir up the environmentalists. Perhaps. Being a bit OCD I do see the fun in it.
nberry:Thanks! Does it last long?
It lasts a couple weeks assuming it's not raining all the time. It's as good as anything I've tried that gives a nice satin finish. I don't like the super glossy look that car dealers prefer.
@Leawood
That's a good observation and a fair question, as an avid outdoorsman I do care about impacting the environment in a negative manner. All the products I use (except the stripping soap that I use maybe once a year) are ph neutral which helps in minimizing any possible interaction with natural elements. One of the soaps I use in winter helps to neutralize the road salts used so I view that as a positive. Washing off all the grime from the roads is not great, although in my neighborhood all the runoff runs through our lake. So there is a bit more filtering that goes on before anything would reach the groundwater. Based on the size of the fish in the lake, maybe all my washing is helping .
The other sticking point is of course water usage. Using a pressure washer greatly reduces the amount of water used in the process as the gpm is restricted vs what's coming out of a normal hose. Not having any kids I bounce against the minimum charge the water company levies for usage, <$9/month, so I don't worry too much about wasting the water.
I wonder when cleaning does brakes, does one look forward to braking/driving to make them dirty again, or rather avoid it?

The Macan is a brake dust machine and as a daily I tend to be light on the brakes. The RS, well to use an old parlance, you just have to send it. No babying those brakes.

I assume his cleaning vs. driving time is 100:1.

I guess it seems that way but I wash a car every 3-4 weeks
Last week daily drove the RS to work 4 of the 5 days (~75Km round trip). Only reason didn't the one day it was -5C in the morning. Then drove about 300K Saturday and no wash for it yet

Dirt is starting to show in the cuts . Visually I like it better when the dirt is evenly spread . But PPF is good on the track .
BTW , we will be at the Ring middle of May and middle of July , joining an event organized by a UK company . You could join in

Well work / work trips meant no time for me to do the exhaust install myself, so had the dealership do it. Need to turn in my man card...some pics from the process below plus a couple of a nice 2RS that was there. The exhaust is a JCR Race Pipe. Very nice construction and techs were impressed with how solid it was once installed. Exhaust is LOUD, like no joke RSR loud. Everyone at the Audi and Porsche dealerships came out when it started and the tech took it for a quick test drive. Luckily there are no noise limits at the tracks near me! I have a short video clip I need to upload at some point.
Packed up and ready to go
Install at dealership

When I first saw the new Ford GT, I didn't like it too much. Also, I hated the engine choice.
Now, I started to warm up to this car. It is no great performer (compared to other supercars out there) but it has street presence and the sound is better than expected.

Always liked the looks, but felt the same about the engine. It didn’t sound too bad when he started it up to move it. Certainly price for performance is a bit lacking especially with cars like the 720S out there, but I’d still take one.
Tried to upload videos of GT startup and a clip of my car with new exhaust. Doesn't seem to be working...I'll try again later.

Your car is loud but it does sound good.
Assume most people are stupid and hope they surprise you.
Thanks Nick! Loving this car more and more as I drive it. Went on a 200 mile drive today on some of the finest back roads with little traffic. Kentucky probably doesn’t come to mind for most when thinking of great places to drive and that is fine by me . Road and Track passes through here for their Performance Car of the Year test for good reason.
One of a number of great roads minutes from home:
Exhaust bluing up nicely
Finally washing the car after long weekend of driving. What a lucky guy I am to own this beauty.
Gnil:Probably time to wash it a bit
How long ago did you wash the Lizard, buddy . 8 weeks ago ..
I like a bit of dirtiness .
