What a beautiful car Wurlie, congrats!
Looking forward to seeing some more pics of it in the beautiful Romanian landscape! kiss

    Thanks Joost!

The car will be in Croatia mostly - I need to update my profile 🙂

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

    wurlie:

I have been fortunate to end up in a position to acquire a 911R.
    It will join an RS4.0.
Having just driven it from Sweden to south east Europe on Cups (1800km) I got a bit of a sense of what it is about as a car.
It is very special, and to those who drive them, I would expect to be worth every penny. And even those who, like me, had to buy them on the secondary market.
It is as exciting as the RS4.0, but very different. RS4.0 is the track car, 911R is the road car (not a GT, mind), both delivering feedback and involvement to the max, while potentially compromising the ultimate speed. That, to me, is perfect. And worth the outlay.
    Best, w

    Congrats! Smiley

Daniel Abt is funny... He always appears to be down to earth, mostly driving the Audi TT and similar stuff but at an event, I saw an Aventador and a R8 Spyder with Kempten license plates and a friend said these are the cars of the Abt "clan". Smiley So I guess they are in a friendly relationship with the Piech family, which isn't a surprise (considering the size of ABT and their relationship to VW Group). Daniel Abt also tested the Huracan Performante lately, so I guess VW Group is clearly using him with a different approach to marketing than before.

I once talked to Daniel Abt about the R8 and the tuning stuff ABT offers for it and how disappointing it is (body kit looks horrible and cheap/aftermarket, engine tuning is ridiculous...only 20 hp with a new exhaust system, which again sounds like crap) and he seemed a little bit p.ss.d because I didn't like it. He cannot seriously like their "tuned" R8 and drive an Aventador. Smiley Smiley

Aside from the licenseplate suggesting it could be Piëch family, one could easily just paint the calipers at any body shop? At doesn't necessarily mean anything...

You can surely paint the caliper in any possible place.

+the fact that it is n.991 and that makes it special too . The color is Sapphire blue.

Of course but this car is definitely owned by someone from the Piech/Porsche family.

What is the consensus on painting the calipers?

I chose acid green deviated stitching and would like to paint the calipers in acid green to match. I think it would go well with the Sapphire Blue exterior. If there are no downsides, I would do it.

it's not the only car with the blue leather and blue tartan seat inserts. Robert Linton's car also has those. Same sapphire blue but with silver window trim and wheels.

3 cars at least in North America has blue interior.

All of them were special cars but not necessarily PTS.

make it short, you need a serious pedigree to custom the car which is limited. the drama starts when you can actually see deviated colors on the roof lining and or on the carpet. lower part of the door as well.

those parts are top super VVVVVIP and I would say almost as same level as the painted calipers.

So, 2 years after the 911R is released, I have finally cracked their Easter egg on the car. Think I am the first one to do it too.

The side graphics, the top stripe is 9mm thick, the space below it is 11mm thick, the middle stripe is 48mm thick.

    911, 1948.

And we know those Germans don't do random.
