Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

This explains why a long range requires a rather modest speed...

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

    Whoopsy:

If a Model X can do this, perhaps people can take it seriously as a SUV, if not it is just a minivan.

Most modern proper SUV can do this no problem, be it G-lass, ML, Cayenne, and perhaps even the X5. Every Jeep that has the Trail Rated badge can also go up slope and stairs like that.

If most modern SUV can do this no problem, then why are LR making a commercial dedicated to something so common?

Land Rover had always tried put their cars in a 'positive' PR presentation. As in, their off roading capability is up par. But car people already know whatever LR can do, most SUVs (not the weak crossover like RAV4 or Lexus RX or CRV) can also, especially the ones with locking diffs.

But you will never see them presenting their cars at the Rubicon trail. Which Jeep used to test theirs. LRs, all of them get stuck.

These stunts by Land Rover basically means a guy is showing off he has 2 arms and 2 legs, but the general public doesn't know that so they will get impressed an perhaps head to ta show room to buy one only to find out it can't even make it back home from the dealership without breaking down.

Exactly 21 years ago I bought LX because I had to leave in rural area, nearest town was 3 hours drive. The only reason I choose it,was because of reliability of it, fast forward, still I use it after 500k with no tranny or engine rebuild( has front, back and centre lock). and still can do this:

I absolutely love our  LC100, LX470 and LX570. We have had a Land Cruiser or an LX in the family for over 3 decades because it is the perfect vehicle period. It absolutely does everything you ask it to do and more. And because they are better built than any other car and meant to live 25+ years, there is no reason to sell them.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

found 570 very soft and heavy, traded in after ownership of 2 months, guess Im more rigid guy.80 and 100 series are the best in my book. The only thing I would change it for,is 76-78 series, which unfortunately they are not coming in NA.my first LC was bj74 tho back in the day.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

Those Land Cruisers, practically indestructible like the G-Wagons. LR should have learn how to build proper cars from Toyota.

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

interior of LR on LC would be perfect

Re: Tesla Model X Thread Closed

And exterior of Defender or G wagon on LC.

Regarding the softness of the 570, yes thats true and first thing I did was remove the stock wheels and go with 33” wheel/tire setup and it did help.

When reading the facts, I can’t help but thinking that the perceived negativity that we see here from some of our European friends against Tesla is actually not true or that people here are so « niche » that they don’t see the forest behind the bush. It also seems that there are a lot of German driver who truely don't care about driving super fast on the autobahn since we know EV cannot really do that well.

Model S is in the E-class/5 series segment, not S class/7 series. Size wise, price wise and luxury level wise. Actually on second thought, interior level for Model S is more of a Camry level.

Apples and Oranges, it's basically saying Honda Civic outsells the S-class which also outsells the Model S. Meaningless.

The reason is actually a different one: Many BMW 7 series and Mercedes S class are business cars in Germany, mostly Diesel versions and since that emissions scandal, business owners didn't choose these two cars anymore since there is a rumor that Diesel cars could be banned from inner city areas. The Diesel got a lot of negativity over here and since the Tesla S costs basically the same money as a BMW 7 series or Mercedes S class, business owners who ordered a new car, chose the Tesla S. It also seems that Tesla offers better lease and finance offers now.

Of course this isn't the only reason, the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S class were in decline anyway because people over here started to choose smaller cars (BMW 5 series and Mercedes E class instead for example). Also, there is a trend towards SUVs.

Last but not least, there is a lack in German alternatives to the Tesla S: There are none. Yet.

Things will change with the Mission E and other models next year.

Price-wise, the Tesla S is closer to 7 series and S class, at least in Germany.

Also, I'm not sure all former 7 series and S class owners chose a Tesla S instead. Smiley
