I don't want to scare you! About two or three years ago or so, some time before the 4 cylinder boxster came out, I reported that also the 911 will get a 4 cylinder and I mentioned the letter "e".

I don't know how to find my post to repeat it, my post is still valid.

Is that going to be the four cylinder cheap "e" version?

    e for hybrid - 4 cyl. + electrical power

There is not going to be a 4-cyl. 992, not even as a hybrid. Smiley

    where did I say 992?

So what? 993? Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

There won't be a 991 with 4-cyl. either, so... Smiley

as far as I know - 911 will be as it is. Not a 911 e. Boxtser, Macan will be electrified and we will get a full electric sportscar but not named 911.

911 will me in future more special - GT3, GT3 RS, ... Gxx

Porsche speeded up the change from gasoline to electric the last three years.

Don't forget flat earth Smiley .... actually it may not be big for us, yes, but t is for Porsche, otherwise they would not put so much effort and resources into camouflaging the pre-production cars, NDAs, etc... and people loosing their job for something like this is a big deal as well.

That's a bit of an overstatement. If they wanted to keep them under wraps, they would put way more camo.

    Why not just do this?

Different stages of production will allow fro different levels of camo, otherwise this would be even better

Why have a yellow 992 at a dealership in the first place this far from official reveal? yes

Having it in a protected area far from customers at the R&D center etc would make sense. But at a dealership anyone can sneak into the workshop quite easy. Very strange.

It may not be a dealership workshop but a Porsche subsidiary... This car may be there for a dealer workshop... And it may be very far from Germany !

A detail I just noticed : on the picture, the white Porsche on the left seems to be an US version with the orange light in the front bumper...

400 hp for the base Carrera, 450 hp for the Carrera S (different source claims 395 hp for the base Carrera and 445 hp for the Carrera S). Weight stays basically the same (which wasn't easy to achieve), width in the rear goes up a bit.

forgive me if this has already been referenced... but is the yellow paint the photo on the right side above the rear spoiler a different color (unless it's the lighting) than the bumper, light area below it and to the left...

just appears like two different paint jobs that would seem like a partial photoshop?  also, the cut out design of the rear spoiler is different than previous pictures but that might be due to camo...

car looks great to my eyes...

looking at photo again, the yellow paint looks almost matte on the right side above the bumper and the bumper area and left is a much shinier yellow... of course this might be due to lighting etc

Why all the fuss?? Porsche are probably delighted at the online activity this is generating. No doubt there will be plenty of dealers taking phone calls from excited customers desperate to place a deposit on the latest model so they can be the first to be seen driving it. This is all modern marketing spin and possibly even officially sanctioned by someone high up as a cheap teaser campaign. It is not as if technical details are being shared and an early glimpse of the new model is hardly going to change competitors model plans. We all know roughly what to expect with each new 911 generation..... steady as she goes, non ground breaking styling advancements are the order of the day. It is hilarious reading some of the rubbish being posted on various forums about the styling. It isn't exactly a radical departure from the 991.2 smiley

The rear licence plate has dropped by all of what appears to be 180mm on the sport design kit version but you'd think the end of the world had been announced as a result of this. Oh the horror..... angry indecision

Couldn‘t have said it better, my thoughts absolutely. Smiley

I don‘t get this fuss at all, but it seems to be typical for Porsche. When I think back the day I posted the first pics of the then new 991, I even got a phone call from Porsche legal derpartement (!). Too bad, I had found the pics in deep space of the www.Smiley

I spoke to my dealer on an unrelated matter after I posted that Stefan. He said they have had some calls today from people who have seen this photo and want to place a deposit on a 992 as I thought they would plus a couple looking for late build slots on the 991.2. So if anyone in Porsche HQ is reading this it is job done marketing boys and girls. Go easy on your internet "deep throat" as they have generated a real buzz for you at zero cost.

Right, now that is out of the way let's get down to the real burning question. What will the launch colour for the 992 be? smiley

Would that be the Dark Metallic variety or the camo green version?  Rennteam,............... getting to the heart of the issues that really matter Smiley

I'd offer up metallic gold from the early 1970's pre impact bumper range. I had that colour mixed up and was thinking about it for a targa. Having seen a 991 turbo S Exclusive edition last week I think gold is a colour that really suits the modern 911 shape.

It's just the angle of the photo that gives an impression of the rear being large. A current 991.2 would also look large from that angle. Once the official photo's start to appear and the overall proportions are more immediately apparent I'm sure most of us will like it. As with everything things look much better in photo's once you have seen the real item in person. That rear light treatment works well on the Panamera IMHO so I'd expect it to look equally as good on the 992. As Aldo has stated that bumper is the Sport Design version so for anyone who does not like the large area of body coloured plastic the regular version may solve that issue.

Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019) Thread Closed

If that is the sport design package, it is optional.
I pretty sure the standard bumpers look more pleasant.

Still not sure that the original is a real photograph.  As others have pointed out, part of the painted surfaces are matte finished and other sections are glossy.  Additionally it is doubtful that Porsche would have a free standing Porsche script directly below the light bar.  Other issues include the shape of the rear spoiler compared with the shape shown on known camouflaged prototypes and the weird light bending exhibited on the light bar itself.

I'll reserve judgment until the official photographs are provided by Porsche.

I don't like this rear at all. The 991.1 was so clean and beautifully curved, this looks like a plastic surgery that went wrong. And don't get me started with the rear black plastic engine lid. I mean just look at this beauty, with and without the stripe:

    Right? Smiley

As to the free advertisement for Porsche: A company like Porsche cannot allow anyone in the Porsche organization to leak new products. This was not an intentional leak btw., as much people seem to believe it. There are certain professional guidelines in effect, incl. various NDAs and contracts. A breach is not something any company would take lightly. This is a matter of principle.
