    Finally something fun !

After driving very nice  practical cars, I can finally report that I've switched to something that pulls more at my heartstrings. I was lucky enough that my cousin works as a GM at a local dealership. This stumbled into their Certified Pre Owned inventory, and I was able to work out a great deal for it. So the stats:

     2015 435i Gran Coupe (N55 engine, straight 6, 330hp)

    Metallic Glacier Silver

    Oyster Interior

M Performance Package (With the M Sport Exhaust, which sounds great)

    Harmon Kardon sound  system

    among other nice options.

I'm extremely thankful  and happy  about it Smiley

Nice one, buddy! Congratulations! And with four doors, you're even prepared for a family.

Any nice roads around LV? I saw there is a racetrack nearby, have you visited it?

I  haven't visited the track here yet but theres a few and you can see the adds for exotic rentals  and laps all overVegas. I was  doing some research and theres supposed to be a road  up to  Mt. Charleston thats pretty  fun to  drive so I might give that a shot in the next few weeks. There's also a road I did  in december when you drive from here to Big Bear Lake that  immediately came to mind.

I'm already excited over the possibilities !

    Congrats  Smiley

BTW, I've got the exact same car. After 2 years of ownership, I can tell you that there's some good and some bad.

The good: engine is super smooth and responsive, the 8 speed ZF works really well, adaptive dampers makes a huge difference, comfort is fine, reliability has been extremely good, nothing to report on that front yet.

The bad: interior design and quality (the supposed leather looks horrid in my eyes), the steering is pretty numb and a real disappointment (I used to own an E92 before which was ten times better steering wise), exhaust note is ok but could sound a bit fruitier in sport's mode, car hides its weight pretty well but still feels quite heavy in rapid changes of direction.

Overall, it's an interesting (if not the best) proposition in this segment and I think I'd still get one over a C43 or an S5.

    Re: Finally something fun !

Congratulations Enmanual, really nice! The engine does sound great, if maybe a little silent in the interior.

Enjoy it, you're off to a good start!

Thanks again everyone for the good wishes !! I'm very happy with it.

@amazon: Trust me coming from a Korean crossover this feels far from numb in comparison indecision

@Porker: I've gotten into the habit of starting the engine with my door still open to get bit of a growl in the mornings, and I've found myself driving around without any music more often than I had before.

    Emmanuel,

Numb was probably a bit harsh but you don't get the feedback BMW's used to give in the past. IMHO, BMW is loosing its roots a bit nowadays just to attract more buyers and it's kind of sad.

    Re: Finally something fun !

Who are these more buyers who insist on numb steering?

In any case, it would appear that the new M5 is back to form (see Car and Driver's review;  https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2018-bmw-m5-test-review)

Well, it's hard to answer your question because you'll find none of these people on Rennteam nor on any car forum for that matter. But WE are simply of no interest for car manufacturers.

BMW went FWD for the 2 series and will do the same with the next generation 1-series. The new X2 is also front wheel drive. Why you may ask ? I've read somewhere that most owners didn't know that their 1-series was RWD in the first place so BMW just don't care anymore.

I've also read that before its facelift, most owners of the BMW 3-series (F30) thought that the car should be more comfortable than it is (at least in comfort mode) and should "feel" more "sporty" in sports mode. So to please its own buyers, BMW just did that. The problem is that you end-up with a car that can do everything but do nothing well. The average buyer does not want to feel what the front wheels are doing. He only wants a light steering in the city and some weight in "sport's mode", like if a heavy steering was doing anything to the driving experience.

Things will change if manufacturers change their strategy which apparently consist only in selling more and more cars each year even if this strategy harm their own brand and image (Porsche seems to be doing the exact same thing)
