Don't worry. The next GT models will start sounding like crap, aftermarket exhaust mods will be highly punishable (if even possible, particulate filter and all), so there will be quite a demand for "older" models. Smiley

I think we will see a decrease in total number of  production as the high demand was artificially inflated by all the speculators . Now that they are biting the dust , they most probably won't order new cars  and we should go back to be closer to real market demand .

Unless the GT lines becomes actually a daily driver for all ex GTS buyers and more hard core 911 fans

I think this will be the case to given how much more tame the regular 911 is getting, and I think it is done deliberately by Porsche, making the general 911 appeal to a broader target audience while capitalizing on the appeal and success of their GT line and increasing its production.

Which makes complete sense. They should, however, make more of the GTs. Here in the UK demand far outstrips demand still.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

UK seems to be unique market . Prices are among  the lowest on the planet , but Porsche also keeps the imported number very low . Because they don't make enough margin ? Why not raise the price to the standard european price and boot also the number of allocations ?

Agreed -- Sun, for one, and Sky, for two will never buy a 992 whale car.  They're currently looking backward from 1971 to 2019.

Soon the only sound remaining would be the fake engine sound to alert pedestrians that you are driving an EV.

The 4.0L in the current .2 GT3/RS is one of Porsche's finest efforts in my opinion, even more so given the increasing regulatory demands. It's difficult to imagine that future iterations of this engine will succeed as well in so many criteria of performance.

    What about in the U.S.A.?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

aftermarket exhaust will first have to deal with new electrically actuated flap and that is challenge. the flaps are now linked with the filter for emission purpose...good luck trying to change that thing without starting to mess with the ECU of the car.

    Hey Christian,

    What about in the U.S.A.?

I heard that German(!) car manufacturers are discussing this matter and right now, it seems that sooner or later, the European and US cars will use the same tech (incl. particulate filters) because of logistics, certification and cost.

I know that many Americans think that European cars for the US market will sound different but apparently this will not be the case for long, at least not over a longterm run.

This and furthermore, any exhaust (aftermarket, OEM sport exhaust, whatever) cannot sound louder(!), not even a bit, then in the stock configuration. So basically the sound frequency will change (for example from a high pitch to a low growl) but not the loudness because it is prohibited.

In Germany, modding the exhaust system (for example removing the catalytic converters), is even considered tax evasion because the car slips into a different emissions class with a modded exhaust. Very serious thing.

The worst part is though: Police has rights now they didn't have before. They think your car is too loud? They impound it. On the spot. Not pretty. This is why, in my opinion, the market for aftermarket exhausts is basically dead.

I was testing the Lambo EVO last week here in the US at a race track. I was told by the Lambo guys that it has a particule filter. I understand its a different engine than a 992 but how can this car sound so good with the particule filter and passes the various European regulations??? Smiley

    What am I missing?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

AFAIK the Evo has no GPF, at least yet. Than may change with future model years.

Yes, Evo does not need GPF until 2021 (different regulations for small manufacturers which Lambo is, unlike Porsche), then I guess a new model will come with hybrid tech and GPF.

No particulate filter but it is amazing that my 2019 Performante (and the 2020 Evo) both comply with Euro 6d temp, which is currently the "strictest" emissions class in Europe.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Look the U.N. released a report this week that the farming industry is one of the largest causes of greenhouse gasses. Now this was known to me in 1987 because it’s high school biology and physics. But it’s taken them 30 years to release a report confirming the same. Now 27% of all greenhouse gasses is contributed by the farming industry and if the world turned vegan from tomorrow it would reduce greenhouse emissions equal to all emissions from the US and India combined. So the key is not to stop driving sports cars which have a minor contribution as there are fewer around and not many are driven 1000’s of km per month. The key is become Vegan and keep driving sports cars if you want to reduce emissions.
