Keeping it below 5000 rpm for the first 1500 km is surely a good recommendation, for the first 500 km maybe not but there is a lot of controversy going on when it comes to the proper break-in, so I just would try to avoid high rpm for the first 1500 km and avoid track racing during that particular period of time as well. Some people say no engine break-in is necessary but as long as Porsche recommends to keep it slow during the first 1500 km, I would respect that. This is not only about the engine but drivetrain parts as well, also tires, brakes, etc., so it is a good idea to keep it slow for the first 500 km...at least.
Most important thing: Warm it up properly, oil temperature, not water temperature (some people choose to look at the water temp only). But I guess this is not something I have to tell experienced sportscar drivers.
