    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

    dertub:

I hear you! I picked up a black 4.0 RS in 2011 at the end of the 997 run. It sure would be nice to have a limited, numbered 991 RS as a sendoff like the 600 4.0s back then. From what I see, my UV 991 RS was over produced to meet demand. It appears that the RS has lost some appeal as a lower production model. I think the VW mess is changing the way Porsche does business for sure.

The problem was probably more so that the demand was artificial. Nothing wrong with meeting actual demand. The reality is though that there has always been an insane amount of never used .1 GT3 RS on the market. Idiots still have them listed for $250K. I believe these settle around $150K in no time. Buyer immediately put them up for sale hoping for a huge flip. They got greedy and now they're stuck with them.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

These $220k-250k are all still on dealer lots after 2 years in the UAE. Don't know what their rationale in doing so even though currently other GT3RSs are being offered for reasonable $160k-190k at the Porsche dealers.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Bet those flippers are kicking themselves given the return on the SP500 lol

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

There is going to be a festival in UAE with the arrival of the 2RS...angry

The economy is not at its best and it is going to be fun to watch some flippers losing some coins in this stupid game

The 3RS is not moving anymore...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I got shut out of a few limited models because 918 owners had priority. That was a stupid decision.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

The VIP 918 program was actually interesting and surely helped move some 918 sales at a time where they were struggling...

Sales were slow then,  but that was right before the record Ring lap film was released.  They would have sold out anyway at that point...

    Hind sight is 20/20.

Back then no one trusted Porsche will deliver.

The Vip program was there to reward the people that had trusted Porsche.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

The VIP program wasn't that big of a deal back then because Porsche's weren't in a bubble and everyone wasn't flipping out over a limited edition stripe on their 911 or the last of the particle filter cars. It's definitely paying dividends now though since you can pretty much print money with these cars lately. I can't imagine wanting any of the normal cars if I had a 918, so I would just buy them all and flip them the next day. The 918 is still the top performing Porsche, still sounds the best, it's a convertible, it can run on battery around town, it looks good...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

I met a guy here in Sweden on a track day last week. He tried to flip his .2 GT3 RS allocation, but Porsche heard abuot it and annulled his allocation. He was mad, but I just loved it....kisssmiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

How do you flip an allocation? I'm guessing you can't just go in and say "Hey, this is my friend Steve, I'd like to give him my allocation."

The smart thing to do would be to register your cars under LLCs and then sell the LLCs. Then ownership never changes hands, only the shares of the company do.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

What you say is exactly what he tried to do and that’s why it was so easy for Porsche to find out. This guy is a total moron and asked a guy for €30k to let him spec the stupid guys allocation.

He is sooooooo f.... stupid and is even mad at Porsche for not allowing this....mail

funny though how you guys approve of PAG earning millions and millions on GT cars and disapprove about someone trying to earn some minor sum on selling his car to someone who pays happily over list. interesting idea of capitalism you have....here is my more honest take: i buy what i want for my money and sell what i want to someone who agrees to pay what i want.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Well PAG are the ones producing the cars so they get to sell them for whatever they deem appropriate.

Flippers are just an annoying extra party in the whole transaction. The worst thing is that when you buy it off a flipper is that most often you don't get the options that you really want, and miss on the excruciating speccing and waiting period. laugh

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Well, my my next $300k might just go to a fully restored or original early 911 or 356. PAG can compete with the new muscle cars like the Dodge Challenger if they want which are junk. I think they are going in the wrong direction.

I have to agree. Things are only worth what other people are prepared to pay for them.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

although I agree with everything said - if you put +/-3000 units per generation into contex  - it's still a relative rare car. In these days where you can spec a 911GTS to 200k CHF it's actually a bargain......

Someone at Porsche basically "begged" me to get a 918 when sales were slow. They picked up around one month after that offer but I am actually happy I didn't take it, couldn't really afford it and I'm not sure I would have sold the car with a solid profit in the end. So yes, I assume the ViP program was started to reward those customers who were loyal and got the 918, the car which apparently was a "problem child" (slow sales) at first.

I do not see anything wrong with the VIP program, rewarding loyal customers is always a good thing, I can relate to that.

There is nothing funny about it, PAG is the ones who developed the car, built it and sells it, they can sell if for whatever people are wanting to pay for it, no problem with that, there is your capitalism 101. The flipper just a useless parasite that contributes nothing to the process. And the only reason the buyer is paying over list price is because the parasite got in the middle of a car he didnt even want and artificially inflated the price for nothing, and against the makers intent too, he was trying to sell an "allocation", and got owned. Now THAT was funny...

then you should crusade against the zillions of intermediate dealers and wheelers that populate the globe and always buy from source only. what you pay for are connections that intermediaries have and for work they do for procuring the merchandise. same as with flippers of GT cars. btw, have you ever bought an artwork? :::))))) there is a lot of very similar experience but no one deems it unethical.
