Oh, forgot to mention something important: The latest rumor also indicates that the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen (not sure about Leipzig) will be closed(!) for almost two(!) months(!), probably August and September, for the switch to particulate filters and the preparing of 992 production.

So I wouldn't expect a second batch too soon...

I was sure you know this thing from at least 3 months...I had this info times ago, factory will be closed August and September, the production will be stopped for all cars, for example Macan will restart only with the restyling, not before.

salesman here are really upset,no money for at least two months...

first deliveries restart mid October...early November. Also I don’t know outside, but in Italy from September every single car will need a ”personal” omologation...so maybe there will be delay also for that thing.Really seems more things will change.Smiley

Why didn't you say something? This would have been interesting information. Smiley

Is Leipzig affected as well? I don't have a clue.

    Smiley

the info popped up when I was busy and I was not so much on Rennteam,so when I “come back” sincerely was sure also you know this thing...strange that this thing is know in Italy and not in Germany...Smiley

    so,this is why...

BTW I don’t know in Leipzig, but I think can be the same...the problem seems related to emissions...so I think all cars are affected.

Here in Italy the problem of the Diesel is big,no Macan and Cayenne Diesel to sell is a BIG problem for dealers, turn people from 3.2 V6 Diesel to 2.0 V4 gasoline is not easy...I will never change my Macan Diesel to a Gasoline one,if not for a GTS or a Turbo, but in Italy tax for this cars with over 250HP are really high and I will pay them for a sportcar, but not for a SUV.So the 250HP V6 Diesel of the Macan is a really good engine here.

alos the new Cayenne without a Diesel engine will not sell good.Smiley

coming back on that rumor,I can add that after the re-opening seems also the 991 GTS will have a particulate filter.Smiley

My SA just received an update form Porsche regarding my RS. Its prior completion dated of September 7th has now been changed to September 14th. If  the factory is to be closed all of September, someone should let Porsche systems  know.indecision

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Since yours won't need any particulate filter, and the closure is related to emissions, only EU cars should be affected.

It makes sense the they would close EU specific production lines and not the whole factory as this closure seems different from the holiday one. I would think that Porsche would not make changes to markets that do not require them (why waste time and money).

From reading rennlist, I understand many others have August and September production dates.

Exactly, keep your cool and stay in touch.

I was talking to my sales guy, him and the sales manager were saying how nasty the phone calls were becoming. They themselves are getting fed up now, to a degree of course. Even the celebs are getting upset, throwing their pink handbags about after receiving the NO because they was expecting to automatically secure an allocation. It’s all gone berserk here Smiley...That’s why I stated above to Dave to keep his cool and hang in there .

    Hilarious! Smiley

Dave, sorry to hear about that. I remember how enthusiastic you were in Geneva, quite ridiculous how the relation of supply and demand seems to be, especially considering the increase in purchase price on the RS. I also guess that you will get a chance down the line. Are there any possibilities to inquire with another PZ in Switzerland?

If it would only be a different exhaust and ECU, it would only be consist of different parts being installed on the production line. When is the 992 supposed to start production?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Full 992 production starts after the summer vacation as far as I heard...

Maybe the factory won't be closed for the whole month of September, maybe it starts closing in July already, I don't have a clue (was never interested).

@Dario: I didn't know because I never asked. The topic came up when I talked with a "source" about 991.2 GT3 RS availability.

Thanks.  My dealer is run by the AMAG group - the ex-sole-importer into Switzerland.  The other possibility is Rotkreuz - which belongs to Porsche Switzerland (they started operating directly a few years back).  I did ask them about the .2RS about 2 years ago now, and they already had 60 interested customers then!  I think all the dealers are in the same boat to be honest.  I just have to wait til all the 'good' customers get theirs first..

OK, forgot this (weekend is coming frown): No more 991.2 GT3 RS orders possible in Germany, there is an order stop valid until August 2018. Not sure what this means but I think all cars from the first batch are sold, at least in Germany.

Smiley Not quite sure I understand: They already achieved under 7, so... Smiley

They are aiming for a lower time, tomorrow and maybe the day after tomorrow (it is my understanding that the Nordschleife is closed for tourist drivers these two days).

Not giving much on official times though since the cars are carefully prepared, tires same, etc., this is not a realistic time, just interesting for comparison to other factory times but not really to compare cars in the hands of a more "regular" driver. Especially since the car(s), I think they have three with them (and tons of tires Smiley), have Weissach license plates, so probably test- or pre-production cars.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Breaking the 7min mark is quite an achievement since the .1 RS was somewhere around 7:12. This with only 20 more hp and better tires. The thing to remember is that 7:12 in the car world is blazing fast and to be able to improve on that by more than 10 seconds is amazing.
