    997 Option Details

    On a 997 C2S, I'm not clear on a few of the options:

    1. PSE - On a factory install, where is the button to control the valve? Is it the normal Sport button or a dedicated button for just the PSE valve?

    2. Sport Chrono - Does the face of the sport chronometer come in all colors that the instrument cluster gauges can be ordered in? I've only seen the sport chrono face in black and white, never in speed yellow for example.

    3. Nav/PCM - On cars that do not have factory Nav, does the PCM still have the NAVI button? If so, does the button do anything?

    2. Comes in black or white only - last I heard.

    3. PCM can have alot of functionless buttons. I purposely bought Nav so there would be fewer of them (no kidding). There's like three other functionless buttons unless you get the phone and internet(?).

    re: PSE, if you have Sports Chrono, it engages by pressing the sport button. If you do not have Sports Chrono, then there is a separate button with exhaust pipes as its symbol that can be pressed to engage.

    1. With SC, it's the Sport button. Without SC, it's the exhaust pipe button which sits at the same place.
    The Sport button also changes the e-gas mapping, and the suspension setup. Most people here hit the Sport button then the PASM button (to disable the sport suspension mode), because the sport suspension setup is next to unusable on the street.

    2. SC dials are available in ALUMINUM (not white) and black. It's a common mistake. In the S and the Turbo, instrument dials are aluminum-colored, not white. If you order white dials on a Carrera, you get the standard black SC dial. You cannot get aluminum-colored dials on the Carrera (but you can get black dials on the S).

    3. I think the NAVI button would not be here (that said, Porsche still sits in the fake button camp, generally).
    Go to the 3D Car Configurator on the Porsche website, and they show a slightly different PCM when you add navi, and when you add the phone. They wouldn't have bothered to do that on the website if it was not the case in the real world.

    One follow-up...on a C2S is it possible to order the PSE with the exahust pipe button in addition to the Sport button if SC is also ordered? So as to control the PSE valve independent of the Sport setting?

    But you can have it installed afterwards, non officially

    If you do this, do you end up with 5 buttons instead of the standard 4 buttons?

    Standard on C2S are: Spoiler, PASM, Sport, empty, empty, PSM
    Does one of the empty spots gets the PSE button?

    No, you can not use those buttons as they do not ' cut the electricity' . You have to instal another ' basic' one.
    Some have put it in the ashtray..but mine looks likes his.
