    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

I have a new Panamera as a loaner for 5 days - cockpit is nice but feels a bit plastiky yes - big diesel has loads of torque but zero sound.

For Los Angeles they should double the price and include valet drop off and pick up.

interesting - but wonder how many km or miles you can do on what car - here in CH they try to charge 0.80 CHF/km excess

Not worth it because the top models aren't included. Smiley Only interesting part: No mileage limitation, perfect for business people who travel a lot by car.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

The exterior from some angles seems incoherent, like different designers designed different parts.

The interior is excellent, except for the center console which doesn't fit that well especially with those ugly air vents underneath it.

Glad that the ride is much better and the drive will definitely be the best in its class.

Verdict: Must get the Turbo to enjoy it.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

I d not like the new Cayenne, in my view, this car is way too wide (for Swiss roads) yes

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Last week I took delivery of my Cayenne S. I decided for the S version and not the Turbo mainly for expected very high depreciation and high Belgium taxes. My first drive was a wintersport vacation to Austria so a good long drive to really try the car. Everything you read in the review is correct it is a great car, drives almost like a sports car. I was pleasantly surprised by the engine sound, very nice. On the way back after 1000 km I could test the power of the car and this really good. The power is almost like the Cayenne II turbo. The fuel consumption seems to be very low. I need to wait a bit until the engine is completely worn in. At 165 km/hr de engine runs only at 2200 RPM amazing. I was a bit afraid on the size of the car but in practice the car feels smaller. The four wheel steering in combination with the surround camera system makes this car extremely easy to handle. I read a lot the discussions on the high price etc of the Cayenne. But if you see the perfect finish and quality of material used this is the best car on the market.

Thanks for the short review and photos. Smiley

I really wanted the new Cayenne Turbo but since I lease my cars and the current lease offers are, how to put it, catastrophically bad, I moved on. We couldn't wait, we need a SUV this June and the new Cayenne Turbo is too new for good lease offers, they usually come after a year or so. Mercedes seems to offer good lease offers from the start, the GLC 63 is in high demand but dealer still offered an amazing deal (OK, we lease two cars and it is a pool offer but anyway...).

I really love the new Cayenne, even if I find the exterior a little bit boring but for less than 1800 EUR, I would have taken the Cayenne Turbo. For 2400? No thanks.

Why not a Cayenne S instead? Simple. I hate that V6 biturbo engine, hated it in the Macan and never liked it in the Cayenne. If you can live with it, great but I can't. A SUV needs a V8, it just feels and drives different. Smiley Also, I know me, I would have regretted not getting the Turbo pretty fast and regrets can be expensive. Smiley

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

I agree with you I hated the Macan and Cayenne V6 too. But this new 2.9 double turbo is a complete different engine. Much better sound, much better torque and power. I understand your V8 thoughts my first Cayenne had a I V8 loved it. But in these modern times with new tax laws and CO2 restrictions sometimes you need to make a sensible choice for a daily driver. I must say do not regret taking the Cayenne S at all. For fun I still have my 911 Turbo or for the great sound the R8.

Of course, I understand ownership cost. Smiley We cannot always go for what we really want, especially if this isn't the only car in the family. I know the 2.9 l well, from the Audi RS5 and Panamera 4S but I still don't like the sound. Not the only problem though: Even as a Cayenne S, the lease cost would have been slightly higher than for the Mercedes GLC 63. Not by much but still...

I will surely miss the Cayenne but this is how it is. Smiley

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

There is not yet a GTS version of the E3. I assume this will come in a year or 2. The Cayenne II GTS is based on the "old" 3.6 turbo engine and giving 440 hp. The new Cayenne S E3 is based on de new 2.9 turbo engine also delivering 440 hp.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Did that 2.9 engine made it into the Macan yet?

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

    No perhaps at the facelift?

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Congrats on the new Cayenne S. Very nice color. We won't see the new Cayenne until sometime late spring. I'm waiting to see the Cayenne GTS.

Very nice, I assume those are your winter wheels?

Have my Cayenne S now 6 1/2 years and I don't see anything on the market in the same price range that excites me. Last weekend we drove back over the Julier pass in heavy snow and then you realise what a great car it is. Comfortable, spacious, nice (V8) sound and great to drive in the snow.

I need the space, so a Macan is too small. Maybe the Cayenne GTS when it arrives, a RR or the Mercedes G would be a good replacement.

not as small as most people think.

rear bench can sit 3, a bit of a squeeze compared to Cayenne but doable.

trunk space in Macan I can fit 3 full size Samsonite luggages, instead of 4 in Cayenne.

    macan boot 500 litres

    new cayenne boot 750 litres

new cayenne boot 50% bigger now

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

    size matters smiley

However - it is also important how usable is this space. Ideally it is a square box, especially when talking about the rear window - the more upright, the easier to line up the suite cases. The old Cayenne was to flat in that dimension, you couldn't stand mid-size suite cases. If they solved this with the new one it is a huge improvement.

I'm actually afraid that the boot is a bit more inclined (similar to the Macan but not as bad) vs. the old Cayenne, so it isn't necessarily easier to get more (larger) suitcases inside. At least this is how it looked during the presentation, I may be wrong though.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Yes these are the winter tires, have 20" for the summer. Boot seems okay specially since you can move the back seats to even enlarge the booth. I was at the dealer yesterday for some small issues, nothing important. He told me the new Cayenne's have quite some delay in production. The can get some V6 and Turbo, but more popular "S" have long delivery times. He was offered to production 2 slots for a Turbo in  March  but could not find a buyer(s). They received a fully loaded V6 (same price ad my S) for stock. When I asked who in the spec-ed this car (more then 35.000 Euro in options) he answered Porsche themselves. This was a "training" car produced beginning October last year, offered with some discount. I did not know Porsche sells there production training cars as new.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

What color is your new Cayenne? Meteor? I saw a new Cayenne S  last night in Biscayne blue with Luxor/black interior.  Looked good...

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

mine is biscaya blue with black inside

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Porsche is shooting the sleeves in the foot with their prices. Cayenne TT for 40% more than a Macan TT or a supercharged RRS? No thank you.

Panamera TT for 50% more than a E63 AMG S? Again, no thank you. The Porsches are good but not THAT good as the competition is catching up fast and all cars are getting sooo good than the other brands are crossing the “good enough” threshold.

Worse is that today the Panamera and Cayenne look really boring, and that’s where Lambo and such will win the high $$ SUV market. Saw a Bentayga on the streets again and even with a challenging design, it has a street presence that the Porsches dont have anymore. The Urus, AM, RR, and Ferrari SUV will kill that high end market for Porsche. It has for me, I don’t see why it wouldn’t for others...
