    Thank you.

I know a lot of folks find the color boring but I was always partial to the Silver-Grey-Black palette.

To make it even more "boring", I ordered Black interior with Red stitching (the Blackest interior available).

    You lucky ?, Smiley..

Congrats, they are as rare as rocking horse shit over here..Smiley..

Same with my dealer. When I told him I could get a production slot, first thing he said "but I can't give you any discount, not even the usual 3%...". 3% is usually the discount dealers give for very very popular and new models to new customers, longtime customers usually get around 6%. If dealers want to get rid of cars and/or you are a very good customer, discount is around 11-13%. New cars of course.

Now he would pay me serious money for a car, he badly needs one for one of his customers. Smiley

    Obviously,

    my answer was in jest.

I would not expect even free floor mats with the GT2RS and I am ecstatic about paying just MSRP...

Hahaha, in the UK all GT variants are practically invite only now. YES, you have to wait to get invited to spend your crinklies and some don't even like to ask for one. They just put their name down and go and sit and behave indecision. When you explain this to the normal car buyer they look at you as though your mad. Here in the UK the ones that have a allocation will just say ""I have secured one"". If you dare ask which OPC they are picking up from its really frowned upon, its as if they do not want to rock the boat in some way by telling someone a bit of information . Its become a BS game tbh trying to secure one. I heard one guy part ex his GT4 and 991GT3RS to be sure to secure a Gen2 GT3 slot, thats how bad it is over here..Another bought a GTS for short term ownership to secure one then just to part ex it back for his when it arrives. I will not play the game of buying cars I do not need so I do not get.

GT's use to be a free ride because of zero depreciation but with the deals guys are accepting to get slots makes that theory well finished.

It really is a crazy situation in the UK isn't it ? I think Porsche GB are managing supply to keep the current situation live as it surely must be helping their bottom line big time, I even bought a 991 Turbo S hoping to get a crack at the GT2RS so I'm not innocent in that game but going forward I am with you it is a futile and quite stupid situation currently which I will not participate in going forward..

I think people have very short memories, for me 2008 was like yesterday and I remember well how expensive cars sales literally stopped overnight and one could buy a second hand expansive car for peanuts, I've said this before but its worth repeating my 997GT2 depreciated to about £60K by 2012, this was the norm and it will be again no doubt.

I spoke with a friend's son the other day who would have been about 15 yo in 2008, he's always been car mad and has matured during the build up of the current hype his dad bought him a GT4 new and his dad is not frivolous with money it is because he believed the GT4 would hold its value and it has. This young guy told me he has a new GT3 coming in a couple of months and has sold the GT4 at list, this young guy seriously believes free motoring is possible because he is experiencing it, there is no way his dad would be buying the GT3 if they had experienced normal depreciation on the GT4 but they didn't and he has taken a GT3 slot from someone older who could really afford it - its crazy Smiley

Probably the low list prices in the UK are a factor and affect allocations.. why would Porsche sell them cheap there when they can easily sell them for more elsewhere?

I think the main factor is low interest rates and tight supply. I would echo the comments of @throt and @993TT - the situation in the UK is insane. Porsche were caught completely cold with the demand for the GT4 and  991.1 GT3RS and allocated appallingly. They did a better job with the 991.2 GT3 but the not such a good one for the GT2RS from what I can tell. I have no problem with longterm repeat buyers being at the head of the queue but that has most definitely not been the case with GT2RS allocation. Plenty of Instagram "Jonny come lately" stars getting cars rather than Porsche diehards as well as 918 guys who have flipped those as well as their 991.1GT3RS not to mention the 911R they should not have got. On a personal note, I feel I have made progress as atleast this time I got a call to say I would miss out, rather than me having to phone Smiley. Every time I get the pang for one, I go in to my garage and feel instantly better Smiley.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

    crayphile & 993TT,

Unreal that you guys have not been lucky, sums it up in a nutshell. And it was suggested to me also, 993TT, when in conversations with a couple of OPC's that maybe I should consider buying a 911Turbo to up my buying history. broken heart. No thanks from me on that chestnut indecision..

And wrong doings of allocations with the GT2RS is absurd. How the hell does that happen with such a limited supply?..

I was told end of January is the definite cut off for the Gen2 GT3 build slots. I am surprised its this late tbh.

You got a call too, cray, Congrats indecision. Seriously though, you obviously was definitely in the running then for one..kiss..

yes  - GT3 window closing. I had to finalise my spec this week. I was holding out for Feb so that I could get contrast stitching on the seats for a Touring spec but was told I could not delay. There are a few build slots ilater but they have been allocated already. Has anyone else heard about a petrol engine build shut down in a few months to meet EC regulations?

Didn't stop Porsche from selling them cheap in the USA where they have some of the lowest list price in the world..............

Simplest solution would be for Porsche to raise the list price the USA to match the rest of the world, kill off the market adjustment from the US dealer, weed out the flippers, the extra supply can go to somewhere else and fulfill worldwide demand also. Killing like 3 birds with one stone throw.

It looks so much better in black.  If possible I would order the Weissach package without the central paint stripe which just looks cartoonish in my opinion.

The US configurator shows a price exclusive of any sales tax.  Dealers in each state presumably add it if and when required.  Therefore the US configurator more or less shows the revenue Porsche gets.

The UK configurator prices include 20% sales tax, so removing that gives the revenue Porsche gets.  Pick a model, and convert to USD and the UK price comes out less.

GT3 = $143,600 base in the US.  On the UK configurator it is 111,802 GBP inc 20% tax.  So 93,166 GBP ex VAT.  That works out at $131,919 right now.

You can't compare cars without tax. When you buy a car do you tell the dealer. I will skip the tax on this purchase? Tax is an integral part of buying a car.

Tax is also why cars in places like Hong Kong or China is so expensive, over 100%. Not everyone can afford a Porsche there.
