    Fritz, always enjoy your humor and insights....

    But have no desire for Luddites to prematurely die....after all, many grandfathers and other elders, etc are Luddites....

    Interestingly, know many 50yo+ engineering/tech guys who share my disdain for Luddite boxes.....it's typically the (often younger) ricer/rapper wannabe-type guys insecure w/their gender identity who are most enamored w/playing w/a stick of some sort....not that there's anything wrong w/that.....

    435hp in a GT3 amazingly matches the official HP in a bog standard $43,995 base model Corvette. I wonder why......

    Any GT3 should have the 997TT engine in it.
    The 997S should have the current GT3 engine in it.

    But customers do have to subsidize Porsches growing automobile empire don't they!

    I had always thought the GT3 did not come with a Turbo motor because the GT3's higher-revving engine and rear wheel drive proved nimbler on the track than the lower-revving Turbo with four wheel drive. That is, the GT3 is more of a soccer player while the Turbo is more of a rugby player.

    Agreed. I've driven several powerful turbocharged track cars and they're not that fun to drive (except on the straights). I much prefer the sharp response of a n/a motor.

    The GT3 is no light weight, I think it could use more torque. I am all for fast revving N/A motors, but the GT3 needs more power I think to be a real "GT" sports model.
    It is ridiculous that the 997TT whaleboat outlaps it.

    Until Porsche decides to build a new, lighter rear engine 911 we are doomed to need Turbos to make pigs fly. End of story.

    Porsche thought of that. The GT2 is a GT3 with a tuned turbo engine.

    I had a 360 spyder and comming over the Alps with the flappy paddels enabled you to brake and change down deep into a corner in a way that a manuel box will not allow!!

    The GT3 is a very capable track-day car, but a race car is a completely different beast.

    just spoke to the P-dealer here in Germany. he claims the production of the 997gt3 will be stopped by year end.

    the new one will come out in fall with pdk and DI.

    My dealer said the MY08 is still the current model, so I guess MY09 is the way to go for facelifted PDK/DFI GT3, Turbo and Carrera.

    The question is when they are going to release info for the MY09? Before the holiday?

    Sorry, I got confused: the actual model is going out of production now, the new one will come out in fall/winter 2008 (would be a model year 2009 i guess). So basically a year from now!
