    I'm not sure which markets the car is being sold in. We currently have a different special edition to the US here called the Boxster Sport Edition. It's hardly an inspired effort from Porsche GB as it is just a few accessories - aero kit, sports steering wheel, stainless steel door entry guards, wheel upgrade and PASM.

    I'm guessing that the RS60 is going to be a worldwide model like the 986 550 was.

    If you were in the market for a new Boxster would you buy the SE, wait awhile for the RS or wait even longer for the slightly updated model with the direct injection?

    Any thoughts?

    Wait for DFI is my advice. Better MPG, more power and lower emissions so it might even scrape into a lower RFL band in the UK. The DFI cars will also have the facelift and should appear from September 08 production if current info is correct. The Sport Edition and RS60 are just gimmicks to shift current production space and unless they have options you would have chosen, are not really that great a saving.

    The DFI updated model will be the best of all those offerings.

    I would wait for the DFI, i reckon that will appear around March 08. Porsche Marketing needs sales to bullshit their bosses that they actually do something

    why would anyone buy any carrera, cayman, or boxster today, with a facelift, DFI, and PDK to be launched in March 08 at the geneva auto show, and deliveries as early as June 08!!!

    Take this FWIW, but my local sales manager was told by PCNA rep that DFI will be introduced first on 997s and at least six months later on 987s. Facelift will appear at Geneva 08 for 997 and 987, possibly for late Spring 08 delivery.

    PDK is the new dual clutch paddle shift transmission.

    The first facelift 997 models are the C2 and C2S with the first customer cars appearing around June (in the UK at least, possibly earlier in other markets?). Boxster/Cayman facelift production is rumoured to commence in September after the factories come back from their summer shut down which makes sense for any retooling required.

    Curious as to any more news on the Boxster S RS 60 Spyder, as if it is introduced, it should be soon as the face-lifted 987 may be out as soon as late Spring or just after the 997 face-lift, if I am reading this thread correctly.

    I thought the strong rumour was that the facelift would appear around March (maybe to catch Northern Summer). I am sure that the marketing people would not have anything to do with this decision.

    Some nice design elements in the interior, though the only tech mod seems to be the new sport exhaust providing a small HP gain (the sound may be nice ?)

    Some very nice styling elements, many of which you can presently order. What truly looks unique is the instrument cluster and the round exhaust tips. Nice package. Introduction of this RS model in March of 2008 makes the 2009 facelift look like it will appear no earlier than mid- 2008 or in September 2008, like many are posting here.

    AFAIK the red soft top is exclusive to the RS 60 edition - although I suspect it'll be an option in the FL Boxster and 911 Cab.

    Another unique item is that they removed the top of the instrument cluster bin. I'm not sure I like that yet.

    Looks a bit like the ice-cream cones as known from Alfa Romeo
    Though sports exhaust analogue to GT3 may be interesting
