Roadangel.

I've been told by my dealer that they will not be able to install a Roadangel (camera detector) when the car arrives because it would cause the radio and GPS reception in the Turbo to suffer from interference. Is this true of all detectors? Is anyone having trouble with this combination of electronics?

And further to the facelift. My car is due in march and I've been told on another board that the facelift is due in April so I should wait. I spoke to my dealer and he said that there will *not* be a facelift of the Turbo in 2008, he was certain of this. He said the Carrera and the Carrera S will be facelifted however.

I had a Roadangle Plus in my last 997 and there were no conflicts at all with internal systems.

I principally got it in fact for when my new Turbo arrives - to try to hold onto my license!!

So I think your dealer is talking nonsense myself.

Alex. I have a Roadangel in my current car and it works fine but apparently the Turbo has 3 systems which is different from the rest of the range. I did notice that radio reception was much better in the Turbo I tested so i think there is something to it. if you ask the dealer to install a Roadangel (which they were happy to do on my S) they will say no, so I think there cold be a problem. If you speak to your dealer anytime soon mention it, it would be interesting to get another take.

I will definitely be concerned if it means we cannot use a detector, I'm not intending to go mad but the 48's in a 40 area are the ones I worry about.

I have just emailed them as I pick up my Turbo in under 2 weeks and my Roadangel is sitting in my office draw waiting for it to arrive!

I see this is your first posting on Rennteam. Welcome aboard.

A Roadangel is I guess a device that allows users to detect camera radar but that's only effective I'm guessing in the UK so I'd guess that it'd be useless over here.

I've got an order in for a facelift 997 turbo to replace my current 997tt and there is definately no chance of it being available from April 08 so your dealer is correct. There is no firm info on the launch date but it will be late 08 at the earliest although it is more likely going to be into the early part of 09 before it appears. The facelift C2/C2S models will start arriving in the UK from June I understand.

What to do,

Got a build date for begining June,
wait for face lift or just go ahead with sept delivery,,also will the face lift apply to the tt cab???
as for the road angel not sure about the implications in a tt but I have one in my beemer and its sved me some points and cash.

Roadangel is just a GPS receiver with an redlight and speed camera database as I understand it. Therefore I wouldn't have thought it would interfere with the cars electronics any more than a hand held GPS unit would.

What would be even better would be to have the speed camera data on the nav disk for the Porsche GPS. That's the way my Tom Tom Go works. I had a look at making a new nav DVD for the TT which incorporates the POI camera data from the Tom Tom but they seem to be incompatible formats...
