I drove one couple years ago, wonderfull thing but steered and sounded like a bus...
I agree. I did drive a gull-wing and was very disappointed, too. Steering on old MBs is horrendous. Actually - my Adenauer MB from 53 is the exact same, but with that old S-Class it kind of feels ok to handle like a bus. But on the SL it just feels wrong.
Also wanted to buy a Pagode, but after a test ride I was declining. Same problem here, car steers like a bus.
Gauss:Beautiful, the both of them
With some patina applied, these photos could be from the original sales brochure back in the days.

Wow - just great
The perfect combo...congrats.
Could you describe the 356 Speedster driving feeling - is it like a lightweight, stronger VW beetle or is it completly different?
I‘m really interested in your experience. I once had a 1967 2.0 911 for one year and had no big fun driving this vintage car and sold it for 20K€.

Thanks for the compliments!
Surprisingly that 356 feels like a "Porsche". Light front end. Engine is loud and beasty in the heavy rear. The car corners super directly. Yes - it feels like a Porsche. Power - what would you expect with 1.6 liters? As we needed a new engine, we got a bit more than the usual 65HP, but even with 90 HP the car is not a racing machine (fyi - I own the original engine, but it has a crack). The power is delivered directly and it feels with 80km/h like any other Porsche with 160. And with 120 it feels like any new Porsche with 250. So - its a lot of fun on lower speed. Best for me is the noise, the feeling of the front end and the very direct steering.

Thanks for your feedback - may be a little bit like a Lotus Elise MK1 from 1996 with 120HP...also great fun without massive HP.
