    LSD

Does anyone have the LSD installed on the 996 TT?

Intrested in some views on the difference it makes to handling.

    Regards,
    Jason.

A friend of mine has the LSD + sport suspension installed. It makes a huge difference compared to the regular 996tt that I owned at that time. The LSD provides noticeable more traction while the sport suspension eliminates body roll. The difference in lap times at Hockenheim at the GP-Circuit was nearly 2 seconds.

    Cheers
    Thomas

    Re: LSD

Thanks. The option doesn't even appear on the order guides my dealer has. Any idea of the approximate cost?

Jason, I think you are in the US market, and Thomas is in Germany, which may explain why do not have access to all of the same options.

    Re: LSD

I am in the UK. I doubt there would be a difference like this between the UK and German order guides.

Am I losing my grip, or did you add your location after I submitted my last post?

You are right, available equipment for your market should generally be the same as for Germany, apart from your steering wheel being installed on the wrong side of the car!

See, Nick is beginning to make sense, all those Burger Kings aren't good for you

That'll be the day, when Nick starts making sense.

    Re: LSD

I did add it. Your post made me think that a location is useful on such an international forum. Didn't mean to challenge your sanity! :-)

    Re: LSD

My dealer is now telling me that the rear LSD is definitely not an option on the TurboS (at least in the UK). I don't have massive confidence in this? How can I check this point easily as I don't know anyone really in Porsche GB?

Ah, thanks for confirming that I don't have to worry about my sanity. Other people might not be so easily convinced, though.

I fully agree with you about listing one's location being really useful on the forum. Ooops, I've got mine down as Europe, which isn't exactly specific.

Don't worry, fritz, it's not too hard to figure out you're from the UK

    You ARE from UK, right?

    Ahm, Call porsche Deutschland?
I am sure they'll speak nglish over there. You don't need to know anybody, just ask. I mean, THEY want to sell a car, so they better work for it!

    Re: LSD

I called them and sent a seperate email. One the phone they said they would call back. No reply. Not terribly impressive I must say.

Hopefully they call back tomorrow. Otherwise there should be some people here in Germany that can help you out - I guess!

    RC....?

If everything goes wrong I'll ask for you...!

    Re: LSD

    Hello everyone,
I just saw the option list for the turboS, for our part of the world, and it does have the LSD as an option.

    Re: LSD

what is the difference between LSD and LSA?

    Re: LSD

I have had no luck or reply from Germany on this. Any ideas on how I can track down the option (or lack thereof)?

LSA is the multilink rear suspension that has been on all 911s since 1994 (993 series+) - stands for lightweight swing arm, I think. LSD is limited slip differential...

    Re: LSD

As far as I remember LSA stands for the LeichtSportlichAgil (lightweight, sporty, agile) rear suspension and was introduced with the 993, as Grant mentioned above!

Jason, you should send a PM to RC - I guess he is the most appropriate person to answer that question. If nothing else work out, drop me a line and I try to get in contact with them for you.

    Greetings!
