Congrats and I am happy to see that people think different than my parents. They are in the same age and decided to buy a hybrid 4 cylinder car as a replacement for a CL600 angry

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Great combination, looking forward to your impressions.

    Wonderbar:

In an effort to refresh this thread, and steer it back to a Panamera topic. here are three bad pics of a Turbo I took delivery of today.  Volcano, Burgundy/Black, Sport and Premium packages, carbon bits, etc.  Will post better pics and impressions next week, but for now I think it is just right for a 75 year old guy who thinks he's still young and hip.Smiley

Congrats, Sydney Smiley...great choice and thanks for putting this thread back on track. Smiley Smiley

To be really cool though, the car needs black wheels...ask your son. Smiley Smiley

Joking aside, I am glad to see that you have chosen such a great car, the interior is just breathtaking. Smiley

    Drive safely and enjoy.

Regarding RCs comment - black wheels wouldnt go with the chrome framing IMO.

    Happy and safe driving!

    Many congrats. Very nice specs.

Had the same leather color tone at my former 997 Turbo. It's a red with a bluish shade. All in all a more "cold" impression. Enjoy.kiss

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Thanks everyone!  I am so pleased with the color combo, both exterior and interior. The red interior is much darker than shown in the picture, and quite different from Garnet Red which  is brighter and a bit more orange. There is a bit of purple shade in it,.  So far this interior combo is the best one I've ever had, and does well in the very  clean Panamera interior .appointments. Like my young son says, in a complimentary  way, this interior is very "icy".

My Turbo S E-hybrid is stuck waiting in the port while EPA slow-rolls the new drivetrain certification.

I already know the VIN because I received an e-mail offer from Porsche to register the new electronic features and supply my credit card info for when the 6-month free trial expires.

It is also Volcano exterior with silver RS wheels (I HATE black wheels), but it has all black interior with the carbon dash/door treatment.

Must be an old guy thing since I'm only a bit junior to Wonderbar and feel just as hip and young.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

    Initial impressions:

    1.  Smooth, Smooth,Smoorth.  Even in Sport Plus setting, car is far smoother and rides far more comfortably than my 2015 Cayenne Turbo on comfort setting.  In Normal setting in the Panamera, you could be in a hybrid and not know it. Fit and finish of the exterior and exterior is airtight, first class, adding to the remarkably quiet cabin interior.  Wind noise almost non-existent.  Interior is far more modern and open than the Cayenne, adding to the sense of quiet and sophistication.

    2.  Engine is extremely responsive and powerful, nothing jerky or "thrusty).  But even in Sport Plus mode with Sport Exhaust, it is a bit too quiet for me.  The interior is so quiet and airtight (and even with the windows down) I find myself wanting a slightly more raucous exhaust sound to break through the silence. I could imagine a "Race Mode' setting.  Definitely louder than my Cayenne though.

    3.   Driving position is excellent, and obviously much lower than the Cayenne.  I have to be more aware of cars not seeing me in their mirrors.  A far more "personal" configuration--far more so than the Cayenne, but not as intimate as a 911.

    4.  Back seat room is far greater than in the Cayenne.  Passengers can easily relax and stretch out more as the seat position is more slanted back.  Almost a limousine position.  My wife is 5'10 and my son is 6' and there is plenty of head and knee room.

    5.  PCM screen is clear, well lit and attractive.  Just barely learning the functions, so I cannot assess well.  Apple Car Play is the best organizing and implementation function, but still confusing to me.  There are still some toggle switches for some functions, and at this early stage I tend to go back to them (fan speed, temperature, etc.).  I have to be careful not to take my eyes off the road, as there are so many tempting but confusing functions.

    6.  I have already received several "what a beautiful car!" comments.  The car is sophisticated, sleek and unique, and does not give off a "in your face sports car vibe". The whole design is far more complete and appealing than in photos. I do think the optional sport side skirts help, and everyone has raved about the Burgundy/Black interior.

I am absolutely delighted with the brilliant  car, and will post more comments as the enjoy the experience over the next few days.  Questions and comments are welcome!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

A few more impressions to add to the that previous post, after a month+ of daily driving:

    1.  Car remains a delight to drive, especially in Sport Mode.  Normal Mode feels a bit anemic, and Sport Plus seems overkill in daily use.  The Low chassis setting accentuates the lines of the car best, without looking like a low rider cruiser.  In Sport Mode, car is immediately responsive and torquey, and inspires confidence in accelerating at any time.  No lag to speak of.

    2.  Steering is very responsive and cornering (although I haven't driven hard yet) is precise and solid with no hint of understeer.  The rear wheel steering is evident, with no sense that the rear is "lagging behind" the front. SO much different than my previous Cayenne.

    3.  I have gotten used to the Sport exhaust sound which I initially thought too quiet.  I now think it is appropriate for my  metropolitan area, and very noticeable at idle in traffic.  I like it--a good compromise between low rumble and raucous howl.

    4.  The car in the U.S. is comparably small and low, I am almost always lower in driving position than cars around me--even Priuses of small Toyotas.  A good feeling, but I have to be very aware of other cars not noticing me in my lane.  Definitely far lower and more "stealth" than my Cayenne.

    5.  The car is constantly drawing thumbs ups and nice comments from drivers and pedestrians.  I think it is because the car looks very sleek and clean, but not race car or ostentatious.  BMWs, Jaguars, etc. look bulky and lumpy in comparison.

    6.  Luggage space has not been a problem, although I have had to remove the rear compartment cover to accommodate taller items like plants, or heavy duffels. Rear view is good, but not expansive, so I have to be very aware of changing lanes or passing.

    7.  Downside--Apple Play is irritating and works intermittently.  Half of the time it does not even sync with my phone, and has to be fiddled with to work.  Voice activation is spotty.  This is probably not the car's problem, but at this stage I am not particularly impressed.  Also, the touchscreen is still bewildering and is best operated when the car is not moving.  A symptom of my age I am sure, but I have to be very aware of not getting distracted.

    8.  One other aesthetic comment.  The driver's view over the front hood is not as pleasing as in my previous Cayenne or in a 991.  I am used to seeing the fenders rise slightly on each side of the hood--supposedly a Porsche "characteristic' which designers carry forth in each model.  The view out of my Panamera is of a flatter hood with no "shoulders" to speak of, giving a slightly more "boat like", less planted impression on the road.  My guess is the Mission E will take care of this aesthetic design impression.

    9.  Overall, a fine car and one I can recommend without hesitation.

I still think that a E63 S AMG and even more, the latest M5 Competition, would give the Panamera Turbo a run for it's money under the same test conditions

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Funniest thing, when this car was under development a few months earlier at the Ring when Tesla was there, the Tesla people keep trying to say the car is a stripper special like the Tesla.

Oops, this car is notary public certified to have the full interior PLUS a heavy roll cage, offsetting any weight 'saving' from using a race seat on the driver side.
