2 Roadtrips: Nurburgring 21/10 Les Vosges 02-05/11

Thought to share some pictures of my last trips

First one was a soaked and cold day at the Nordschleife...

Last weekend we headed to "Les Vosges" (which is French for 'Driving Nirvana') located in the "region d'Alsace".

A friend's parents own a house in the mountains which was a great base for a driving weekend on some of the best roads I've ever come across. For three days I felt like I was working for the crew at EVO mag

For the time being, I can only supply you guys with crappy pics, the good ones will follow shortly, I hope you enjoy!

Nothing better after a full day of driving...

The following day my trusty old car couldn't wait to get started

I doubt this car would be so keen on those bends...

Great views...

Now sadly ... we had to return with one car less then we arrived with

One of us had missed a hairpin and landed some meters lower, luckily no one was hurt...
It was an expensive reminder for all of us that the thing we all love doing so much, could be a killer... Needless to say we took it slow for the remaining day...

A sad ending to a great weekend, I hope you guys enjoyed, and remember Les Vosges if you're looking for a place to spend some great days driving... Just remember to take it easy

I can recommend the Manoir au Lac at Géradmer

Les Vosges are great for some relaxing days and a spirited drive on those winding roads

Also one can easily expand the tour into the Black Forrest

@ Porker: nice trips that you've enjoyed with your buddies

Quite ironic, that your buddy survived the Ring in the wet but lost control in the Vosges mountains

Too bad I didn't spot you, I haven't seen one Porsche all weekend

Have you done "Route des Cretes" et "Le grand Ballon"? Those were my favorites, stunning views, the best asphalt and no traffic at all

We were lucky to be able to stay in that friend's house, but there are a whole lot of hotels in that neighbourhood (Fresse sur Moselle), no doubt if you take your time you could pick some nice ones out...

It would make a great post-delivery trip for your GT3

, and if you're struggeling to fill your passenger seat....

Actually I would've loved to cross the Black Forrest and head to the Nurburgring on our way back, but, as we're students we didn't have unlimited fuel

)

The "crashed buddy" wasn't with us on the Ring-trip

The accident happened during a nocturnal drive trough the mountains (admiddetly this wasn't a smart plan in the first place) and he simply missed a hairpin.

Afterwards when his car (an 80's Benz) was towed out we took some pics of his car next to mine (80's Beemer), I was thinking of photoshopping "different brands, same corner" on it

Thanks for sharing... if you had one more Mini, you could have re-created the Italian Job!

Seems like you had a great time...it's a pity one of your friends had a mishap though...that's a real downer.

Yes, did them, but not this week-end. I usually go north of that in the Bas-Rhin (department 67). There are plenty of nice roads too. (Camp du feu, Rothlach, Hohwald, St-Odile etc). Did not see a single pcar either. In fact, the roads were quite empty...

Great pics, I somehow must have been the only one who missed the great roads when travelling through Alsace... Made a trip with my former (well handling!) campervan through northern France (Champagne...), across "Le Schlucht" down to the southwestern area of Germany, visiting Freiburg and Switzerland's Basel. The only enthusiastic motion I got in the Alsace was due to the Bugatti mansion in Molsheim.

Surely have to get back there, partly due to those scenic routes, partly due to the Collection Schlumpf.
