I would have trouble choosing one over Focus RS or Subaru STI, due to FWD.

Torque steer yes, but the harder thing to eliminate is understeer. Not that AWD cars are without their own understeer tendencies, but you have more options to adjust cornering attitude than you do with FWD. As I recall some of the Renault hot hatches (FWD) were reviewed as fairly neutral, but at the risk of lift-off oversteer which most car makers do not want to release to the public.
