+1 I was thinking this, but best when you say it!

Shockingly nice wild rides --- Only The Spec would look way better without.... the rest no diff
I think they look great. What your missing about black wheels is the exterior color and style needs to be right. Putting silver or platinum wheels on the cars above would have seriously compromised their appearance.

I think the Ferrari has colour matched wheels (which I think is usually even worse than black) but in that particular case actually works. The rest, I agree are not so good. Black CAN be good but certainly not always.

Car just landed in Halifax NS about to embark on a very long train ride across the Great White North (Canada) to Richmond BC. Should be at dealership by the end of the month, a few weeks before I will be able to get there. Still enjoying our CO winter, off to Rocky Mountain National Park to snow shoe this week and lots of skiing before I head back to the Cascadian corridor...

Agreed - this is my point as well. My beef is that it is just used too often now and on many occasions to little or, in fact , negative effect.
Black is a nice combination with many colors but the photos really cannot display how nice black is due to the lack details versus when viewing in person. My only issue with black is that they do have to be clean to look good, that's the advantage with Satin Platinum wheels.
Silver wheels only looks good when they are clean and not driven. Just driving around the block and sliver wheels became an eye sore.
black wheels hide brake dust VERY well, so is Porsche's satin platinum, or sort of titanium colour to a certain extend.
One will never find brake dust on black wheels when looking, while on the platinum ones one will start to see them when they are heavily accumulated.
Actually on second thought the black one shows heavy accumulations too, they are of an dark greyish tint on black wheels.
On the other hand, PCCB helps A LOT, next to zero brake dust, if not for carbon brakes, silver wheels will never come back in style.
Those 3 piece silver Speedlines on my Turbo 3.6 are one of the worse! On par with the mesh wheels from the 80s. Just cleaning 4 wheels will take one 3 hours.
Its amazing how many are going for these bright silver wheels. I remember having these on other cars and as Whoop says they are a pain in the butt to keep clean, loads of dust, tar spots, everything. They do not weather well over time either, not sure how all the latest coatings will help, maybe good though.
Jmo, but I think the bright silver ones date the car too . Black and Platinum for me..

nberry:I had platinum wheels on my .1. The problem with them is they ALWAYS look dirty.
That's your mind playing tricks on you. Your mind always associate bright silver wheels with cars, so when you see the platinum color is not bright silver you think they are dirty.

exactly, that's why I like the compromise between the very clean silver and the very dirty black. The platinum option!
My 918 is running platinum for summer and winter, the Huracan also have both sets in platinum. The Cayenne is also.
Only car with black wheels is the 911R and the GT3. The Aston, I forgot Think they are diamond cut.

nberry:Oh, oh, noticed a couple of small oil marks on my garage floor. Will monitor through the weekend.
When I removed the under-tray/diffuser on mine (to plan for oil change), there were also a couple small spots on it. I don't think it's a big deal. Someone else mentioned the same. Not even sure that mine was oil.
Not sure how yours would make spots on the garage floor, if the cover has not been removed. Either it's not coming from directly under the engine or it's over-flowed the tray
Any movement of your oil level on the gauge?
