Does anybody know the REAL reason that my Panamera Turbo S hybrid has come afoul of regulatory shenanigans?
It was produced last Fall and has been sitting in a USA port since October.
Now, ... PCNA reports that I should NOT expect delivery BEFORE NEXT MAY (2018).
WTF???

It may have something to do with emissions cerification, I don't really know but even the R8 seems to be affected, I know a guy in the US whose car is stuck in port as well for weeks now.

Delays at ports are usually caused by emission certification issues OR manufacturer modifications that can more easily be corrected at one site, rather than at numerous dealers once the cars are distributed. It is possible that Porsche itself is holding up the cars to make minor corrections by having technical personnel address those matters in one facility. Just a thought.

I also considered mods as a source of the delay.
An additional item of interest is my dealer reports that port delays only seem to be affecting the hybrid models of Porsche. Cayenne and Panamera are both delayed. The Cayenne hybrid was held up for a month or more and the Panamera hybrids (4 & Turbo S) are still in limbo.
One can find the Cayenne hybrid on www.fueleconomy.gov, but the two Panamera variants are not there. Kind of gives credence to EPA certification troubles.
For a 5-month additional delay to make sense, it might be that some new module has to be designed, sourced, produced, and fitted to rectify whatever the difficulty may be. Uncertain delivery of the mods bits may also explain the wording of the e-mail that says not to expect delivery BEFORE May 2018. Delivery in May only if things go as planned?

You also have to wonder if there is some fallout from the VW Diesels issue. EPA not trusting any of Porsche's data.

PCNA did have a similar issue with the New Panamera last year which delayed the Panamera launch for a few months. I am hearing it’s an issue with EPA and the some individual States.
