The Spyder and the GTS are the last great n/a six cylinder mid engines Porsches that mere mortals can buy. Ours is a definite keeper for that reason. Now i’m retiring shortly the car will start getting the use we always intended for it! Smiley

YES , it's mine and when sold, i'll buy a 991.1 GTS because i want that engine again, but my wife would like an automatic roof...

That I can understand, I would look at a 991.1 GTS myself if I didn't have other priorities..... .....like retirement Smiley SWMBO prefers the 911 for purely practical reasons, more room to stow stuff when we go touring.

    Speedster911:

If very low mileage I assume speculators/flippers who now see a sweet spot for selling (asking prices are more or less stabile since a while, but not going up for sure IMHO - at least not in the short term). I am not really studying the Spyder market right now but I know that even the OPCs still pay over original MRSP for Spyders with decent mileage and spec. When I recently spend a visit to a number of OPCs (there are plenty around my neck of the woods) when looking for a Carrera T I always (!) got unsolicited offers for the Spyder, though I didn't really enter into negotiations as I still love the car Smiley

If you want a Spyder for this season you obviously have no choice and should buy one now (I guess you can negotiate a good deal as there are plenty of private/non-commercial offerings in the market) Smiley Otherwise you may want to wait until we all know more about the 718 Spyder and decide then..... My assumption is that they will build much more 718 Spyder than 981 Spyder and will sell them at a higher price of course Smiley Here in Germany they sold only around 650 cars of the 981 Spyder - not a big number even in the world of Porsche's ever increasing armada of "special models". Performance of the successor will be better for sure but performance is not necessarily the main point of a Canyon Carver (just my opinion of course).

if 650 units just for Germany is accurate, then it is a really high number of cars delivered... I think you are really ambitious with this number.

    Re: Boxster Spyder (981)

Actually the number have been provided by Porsche - should be legit then. Global supply was like 2,400 cars or so (with the biggest share for North America) while 987 Spyder was like close to 2,000 cars globally. GT4 numbers were even much higher (IIRC 2,5x or 3,0x compared to the Spyder).

EDIT: looked the stats up again - 667 cars for Germany, 2,486 global supply (incl. Germany), 987 Spyder 1,883 cars globally.

    Re: Boxster Spyder (981)

I haven't used mine nearly enough so decided to take it out on Tuesday and enjoy the last day of the heatwave here. What a fantastic car it is and such a different experience from my 991.2 targa 4S. The sound of the flat six and the precision of that lovely 6 speed manual combine to make it a car you just want to seek out great roads in. My dealer called me the other day and whilst chatting he told me that the 981 spyder is great news on the used market and they recently sold one within less than an hour of putting it on sale. I won't be parting with mine unless the 718 version is a significant improvement and I can get an allocation.

Oh, the 718 is a SIGNIFICANT improvement to any 981 Smiley, however, who cares when the power is delivered with IMHO a terrible sound Smiley ...(I never had such an urge to return any loaner (in the case a 718S) before). So, for me, your spyder would rather be a keeper or an interesting trade-in in terms of value for any other Porsche...

Actually I used the heatwave as an excuse for not taking out the Spyder for a spin, as 37°C  was a bit too much for me (there must be a reason why cabs aren't that popular in countries with very hot climate) Smiley Still I am saying "excuse" beause I grabbed the keys of the Carrera T too often - neeed to be broken in, new toy etc.... Now with a cooler period coming up I will jump into the Spyder again at the coming weekend Smiley Though Spyder and T obviously are very different animals both provide lot of driver involvement and fun - for me they complement each other really very well Smiley

Couple of weeks ago I had some fun together with a buddy and his spanking new Gulf GT3 Smiley

Enjoy your beautiful Spyder, ISUK Smiley

Honestly, you would be crazy to sell it unless you have specific reasons to do so. It is one of the few cars and of Porsche’s lineup specifically that stirs my emotions. The fact that they sell so well on the used market is proof that many think like that.

weeeelll, considering your past contributions to RT...., I guess not... Smiley ... but, 6 cyl. "NA", really ?  I considered the spyder to be much more mainstream, ie not GT, for Porsche to put in an NA engine and given my recent impressions on the "T" I would rather like to see a turbo 6 cyl. in the spyder.

    Re: Boxster Spyder (981)

The 718 Spyder for sure will have NA engine.

And the new Panamera GTS will be with V8.

From the spy videos online on YouTube, I believe the Boxster Spyder will come equipped with the 3.0 Twin Turbo Flat Six form the Carrera S, which will be terrible in my opinion.  I would only buy one if it came with the GT3 4.0 N/A flat 6 .  What do you guys think will be the choice for the engine?

I am not sure whether Porsche stills builds any other NA engine besides the GT-engine(s) ?  But it was repeatedly referred to by others (quite reliable sources) here in RT, that a whatever NA engine is the way it is for the spyder. Personally, I would rather like to see the 3.0 l Turbo engine, perhaps tuned to 400 PS just to not shorten any distance to the 991 (or even 992).

The rumored motor for the next GT4 (and presumably the Spyder also) is either 3.8L or 4.0L NA based on the old motor from the last GT4 (which is a detuned 991.1 Carrera motor, not a GT motor).  Expected output is 420hp (which would be a slightly de-tuned 991.1 X51 Carrera motor).
