    Re: Panamera Pics

    One more

    Re: Panamera Pics

Nice, but not a real pic... Both the front and wheels are subject to a PhotoShop exercise

    Re: Panamera Pics

    its a repost

    Re: Panamera Pics

Still butt ugly, a 996 stretch limo. Still a disaster.

    Wasn't the 996 a shrunk 989?

    Re: Panamera Pics

    Some renderings from Top gear,

looks like a shrunken cayenne this time, aweful. Hope the production model will be as beautiful as the Aston Rapide.

Now THAT's what I call excessively high standards. How many cars in the market can claim that?

    Re: Panamera Pics

    Re: Panamera Pics

It's beginning to look like an oddity, a crossover, or something citroen would build.

    Re: Panamera Pics

IMO the Panamera should be a limousine. The car just won't look good enough as some kind of bastardized hatchback.

    Re: Panamera Pics

dude that white PS is siht... its way bigger and longer.. this looks like an A3.

as much as i would like to believe that the Panamera is going to be as nice as the Rapide, i still doubt it. Porsche is more or less Nr.1 when it comes to driving dynamics and driving envolvement, but designwise they have always been conservative.
    my 2 eurocents.

    cheers and happy scaring

    LOL

Just remmeber, this is what it's "supposed" to look like, the drawing Porsche released a year or so ago. We can only hope...

Edit: I looked at that picture again and it looks terrible. I think this car will be aweful. Too long for it's own good, and where the fender meets the windshield it looks like a TVR.

    Re: Panamera Pics

If the TG images are accurate the styling needs considerably more refinement. It looks like a mongrel mixture of the Cayenne and the Cayman. Overall the car appears much too high and you get a general impression of a stretch BMW 1 series (M) or something similar. I think they have tried to make something like the Ferrari 5xx cars but they have not (yet) succeeded.

The wheel arches are definitely not right - in the front they are much too high above the wheels (driven by the size and position of the headlights) and the rear arches need substantially more contouring. The sides too need a lot of work - the area of glass is very small compared to the doors and they are relatively featureless for a car of this type which makes the car look "slabby" or "blocky" and claustrophobic to be in.

I quite like the back, but the whole impression is very much of something quite *normal*, which in the current market (Astons & F-cars versus lower priced Audis and Beemers) doesn't fit with the positioning that this car has, unfortunately. Porsche positioning should be similar to Tissot (the watch firm) - "Gold quality for Silver price". That is what Porsche has always stood for in my book, anyway.

Bit of rant, but it seems consistent with others' views and I hope that Porsche read this forum. They still have time, after all.

    SoS.

    Re: Panamera Pics

I'm not a designer, but I think sketches like these are to lay out a general view of the car. No details, just some exaggerated shapes to make clear to your boss what you're thinking. You always see that the most dramatic parts of such sketches will be toned down when the car nears production stage. (EG, the wheel size, the exaggerated tilted back windscreen).
Having said that, I am surprised by the amount of detail which you can already see in the test mules: The rear door window protruding from the door shape, the huge rear light unit.

What do you think about the side mirrors? Apart from the Merc CLS and upcoming AM Rapide, there are only Alfa's 156 and Maser's 4Porte sedans left with a similiar visual appeal. It is obviously quite tricky to incorporate four or five adults in a car that features the silouette of a coupe. Therefore the sketch is far from reality in its own right, furthermore the packaging parameters were altered during the development process.

the sound it is actually quite nice, and the looks are much better, I mean the general volume looking from top it is not bad at all... oh God I'm going to the dark side again......

    Re: Panamera Pics

as I mentioned before, this sound is not the real one. This is with a modified exhaust system. The real one will be very silent.

And once again, from very reliable sources the car is not a competitor to M5 or CLS it is a competitor to Quattro Porte and similar cars.

Than what IS it competing with? Certainly porsche has not discovered a new niche.

    Re: Panamera Pics

    Hello everybody!
Here I got a few more pics of the Panamera. Enjoy them!

Please be kind... it might be a repost. But this pic is pretty big so you might see more.

    Re: Panamera Pics

I more and more get the feeling, that this will end up in a very beauty, goodlooking car.

Anyway - the red painting seems to be to far away from reality for me.
