Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

I am planning to get the optional door sills for my TT.

Can't decide go for Door entry guards in stainless steel, illuminated or Carbon door sills (non illuminated).

The car is Black/Black with Carbon bucket seats.

I gonna keep this car for several years and I worry about Door entry guards in stainless steel, illuminated wouldn't last long, but that really look impressive!

And want to know how that illuminated thing works?

    Which one do you suggest?

    Thank you!

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

I'd go CF sills anyway but especailly w/ Carbon Fiber seats..No question about it...

Don't know why people wouldn't get illuminated because of how long the light would last, how often do you need to replace interior bulbs? I can't ever remember needing one. And even if you did need to replace in what? 4, 5, 10 yrs so you replace it.. I going w/ CF illuminated.

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

IMO, Stay away from SS sills. I had them and the fine brushed surfaces get scratched and really look like sh*t. I mean it's nearly impossible NOT to notice they have been marred.

Lemme rephrase: though there are claims that it's possible to get an excellent scratch repair, I've seen no proof that the scratches can be removed without it looking crappy.

The problem is the two-toned finish of the graphics and the background, how a few straight brushings (or a hundred depending on the depth of the scratch) with an abrasive pad won't ruin that crisp contrast I can't imagine.

    I hope I'm just ill-informed.

x2 stay away from ss go for the carbon/illuminated.

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

Oh BTW, you can get wide strips of clear bra and DIY cover the sills to protect them. Dunno how it would look on SS. Would look fine (and would be smart?) to do on CF?

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

If you go with SS and don't want the scratches, the clear film is your only option. I have seen them with the film and you can't notice it's there.

    Excellent!

SS _are_ very nice. Better than stock.

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

The funny thing is that when I picked up my car, they included a sponge used to remove those scratches. It actually works well in doing just that if you use it periodically. I honestly wouldn't worry about the scratches as a result. I'd just get them clear-bra'ed. And I would pick CF over SS simply because you're getting the CF bucket seats.

The light uses an electroluminscent source so it'll last for a while before going out. Looks great especially at night.

Those scratches are come from shoes or doors?

Thanks fo the clear bar idea, that's a must for those things.

    The sponge comes from Porsche?

    The light blue or white?

    thanks

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

I think they're all brown sponges. I thought my dealership added it but they tell me that it came from Porsche.

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

I also got one from Porsche (the abrasive "sponge").

Brown/dark-tan is the color of the finest 3M "Scotchbrite" pad. I think the Porsche-supplied item is exactly a fine Scotchbrite pad.

Re: Optional door sills, need your suggestions!

I'm sure that a fine Scotch-Brite pad will work. Merlin suggests using such a pad to buff out small scratches on their top of line road bikes. I've used it on my $8,000 Merlin Titanium road bike frame with great success.

You are. You probably need to replace your hob nail driving boots with something with a less abrasive sole/heel. I think I saw a pair of darling pink driving slippers on one of these forums that would be just right for you.
