Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

This is the second time I did this, but I bruised my ribs/stomach because I tried to either close the driver side door before I got out of the way, or I tried to get in before I fully opened the door. Well, the first time I gashed the skin, even though I was wearing a shirt. This morning I poked my stomach/ribs coming in. So I will have a nice bruise.

The problem is the pointy window.

    But it's my fault.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

Either you are too fast and the door too slow or "vice versa"...

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

Oh yeah! OUCH. I came close to getting traumatized by that pesky window-blade too.

My way of avoiding it? When getting back to car I got into habit of ___waiting___ that second or so for window to go down it's normal 1/4 inch (7mm) when you unlatch the door, this way you indirectly remind yourself to relax.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

The frameless window on my 3-series taught me this lesson long ago. I feel your pain . . .

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

Wow, you must be a man in a hurry! I've never had that happen to me. You're probably of small to medium build. I'm, uh, kinda big. Getting in and getting out requires a bit of flexing. Sorta like yoga class.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

I'm 5'9". So the corner of that window will get me at the bottom of the ribs. There's a bump and gash there. I'm still in pain.

Both times it happened, I was in a hurry. However, I do have a problem of bumping into a wall now and then, so maybe I'm just uncoordinated.

I just hope it doesn't happen to anybody else.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

What? People are blind they do not see a window pane on the way?
The other side of the story is... if you hurt yourself banging the window, the window itself also suffers as it is being forced and soon enough will not seal properly.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

    It's the U.S.: SUE!

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

It happenend to me too. Don't worry, it comes with the car.

I once scratch my ear against the roof line because there was not enough space to open teh door and get in a 997. I felt so stupid. And it hurt real bad

Actually, I think the first time, I swung the door open or closed and misjudged the clearance between me and window. I was in a hurry to go play racquetball.

Yesterday, I was upset that I had to wait so long at the Post office so I hurried back to my car and opened the door quickly, but not enough to have it fully open. There was a car to my left and I didn't want to "swing" it open and dent my car and their car. So my body was in motion so quick before I realized that the door was only half-way open. And I got "stabbed" in the ribs.

I need to slow down. Not do things so quickly. I have a pretty fast tempo with everything I do. Talking, eating, golf swing.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

LOL... Alan. The only thing I can tell you is PUT THE BOTTLE DOWN.

Re: Warning: Don't get into your 997 too fast!

It certainly hurts... ... I struggled to get out onto a high kerb and almost ripped off my left testicle!

You might as well have been harpooned in the nuts. It is a very painful thing to have happened.

    MMD, buddy -

I have a solution now. I always put my hand on that "relatively" sharp corner of the driver side window before it can come close to the body. It's a little anal, but I think it will work.

P-cars seem to be more dangerous when not being driven
PAG should consider to add some pages about the dangers of stationary P-cars to the manual
