Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

After viewing a post on another site showing Carrera Sport wheels with 305 tires on a new C2S, I re-checked the P-car on-line configurator which confirmed that the Turbo option also comes with 305's. I was concerned enough to run back to the dealer (actually I drove) to find out why my '08 C2S w/Turbo wheels only had 295's. I was told that 305 tires are only put on the C4S, and that they wouldn't fit on the narrower C2S, even though you can still purchse the the Turbo (404) or Carrera Sport (XRR) option.
Now I'm really concerned, and will be very upset if I find out I was supposed to have the larger tires on my car.
My next step is to contact PCNA, and try to get an accurate answer. I'll keep you posted.
Are there any Forum Members out there who might be knowledgeable about this tire issue? Thanks.

B.S. My friend has an 07 Carrera not C2S 0r C4S just a regular Carrera and his tires are the same as my 07 TT. Trust me it will fit fine

Re: Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

You could probably put even wider tires if you wish.
Although 305 is probably past the added performance category

Re: Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

Thanks for the responses, but actually, what I'm concerned about is that my car was supposed to be delivered with Turbo Wheels and 305 tires, according to the description of the Option (404). It has Turbo wheels and 295's. I was looking for information as to why this might have occurred, and what I should do about it, if anything.
Any valid suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

I have a MY07 C2S with the turbo wheels and they came with 295's too. If I have to replace them I will consider the 305's as I understand they will fit.

Re: Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

As far as I know option XRR is the only option where you get 305's on the rear and wider rims on the front and rear. All the other options on a C2S get the same size rims and offset and 295's.

Re: Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

What you actually ordered was the turbo 'look' rims for your C2S and that is what you got. The wheels that are stock for the 997tt are of a different offset than the ones that you received on your narrow body Carrera. If you check carefully you will discover that the 'turbo' wheels provided on the 997tt are not the same as those installed on the narrow body cars. As such, they will come with a different tire. As John, above, mentions, only the Carrera Sport XRR rims come with 305s in back for the slender cars.

Exactly. The only other option receiving 305 mm wide rear tires is the set of Turbo-shaped wheels with Michelin Cup tires (available in Europe, not sure about US) which feature the above dimension on the C2S versions as well. Please note that only the Carrera Sport wheel (XRR) is 11,5 inch wide on the rear, all others have a width of 11 inch.
The front rims are dependend on model type, the majority with 8 inch width up front, once again only the XRR wheel and the Turbo wheel (for the Turbo exclusively) feature 8,5 inch of width for the front rims.

All 19" rims feature 235 mm wide tires at the front, tire width at the rear variating depending on models between 295 and 305 mm versions. Only the XRR version (due to their width of 11,5 inch) depend on the 305 mm option.

If I were you I wouldn't bother at all about it, the AWD models feature a wider track at the rear, different suspension and swaybar settings and, not to forget, the additional driven front axle and therefore are set for the wider rear tires, just as much as those GT3 and Turbo models. The car has more than enough grip at the rear with those 295 mm wide tires, the wider tires increase aerodynamic and rolling resistance to a small extend. Furthermore they cost more. Any more questions?

Re: Turbo and Carrera Sport Wheels w/305's on C2S

I put C4S wheels (with 305's) on my C2S and they fit fine but the offset was kind of pushing it at the back and the car looked not quite as good as with the narrow-body wheels. Also not sure 305 is better than 295 on the C2s; in my case it felt noisier and a bt more understeer. So i say enjoy your 295's they look better and provide more than enough grip; it's a better compromise.
