    Is it a GT3, GT3 RS or .2RS. Can't tell. yes

    Sorry Nick, I couldn't resist.smiley

It's just another 911. Nothing to see. Smiley

    Smiley Great answer Nick.

Actually - I think this GT2 RS rear looks hot like a sky rocket. Especially in black it is stunning as all those additional parts are not that off as on the silver one. Great decision to go for the black one! Smiley

Actually I am debating right to go with yellow Smiley

Why not a black with yellow stripes? Smiley

That is what I am thinking.

But that hue is wrong, the actually racing yellow is different.

Would certainly be different and "fit" a GT2 RS. Unless you're going for that Darth Vader look... indecision

The silver with black accents looks great. I believe that is the color scheme Porsche choose to introduce the car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Just out of curiousity (I just watched the Sport Auto test video): Why does the driver shift manually in the Huracan (and over-revs after the start) but uses PDK auto mode in the GT2 RS? These were the videos with the published times.

    Sorry guys but... 🤬

Depends on the programming, but I believe it's the case that PDK Auto is the fastest way to drive a GT2 RS on the track. Computer > human.

Same thing with the Lambo auto...this is why I was surprised about the video. Also doesn't explain the over-revving.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

    Christian,

Read the article. Clarification is in it.

Performante gearbox auto mode is not so great for track, therefor CG is using manual mode.

991.2 GT2 RS PDK works like magic in both modes. And it is actually faster in Auto Sport mode around the track.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Among all the manufacturers' transmission programming, Porsche is the only one that got it perfect, especially on track.

On my track, I can pretty much leave all my Porsches in auto mode and I will be very happy with it, I might need to override at a couple spots, not because the computer is in the wrong gear, but personal preference cause of what's going up.

Ferrari's gearbox gets indecisive when pushed hard, only time I can trust the programming is on the straights, but basically means I am manual shifting the whole lap around.

Lamborghini's logic is also bad, but at least in Corsa mode they disabled auto mode and put the gearbox in manual mode. This is the case in the video indecision

Who says that? Lamborghini? Or Sport Auto? I did some acceleration testing with auto, manual and the various driving modes and surprisingly, my R8 was fastest in Dynamic Mode, not in the Performance DRY mode. Straight line performance though only, track performance should be better in Performance DRY mode (according to Sport Auto, haven't tested it myself).

Did Lamborghini give specific instructions when to shift manually? Sorry but the article doesn't say much about the details.

Also, doesn't explain the over-revving after the start (it happened to me too once, this is why I know this sound pretty well because the first gear is pretty short). The driver missed the upshift and this surely cost him some time.

991.2 GT2 RS PDK works like magic in both modes. And it is actually faster in Auto Sport mode around the track.

This is the purpose of the PDK auto mode, to be faster...this was never really different. Smiley (maybe with early PDK versions). Especially the AWD versions of the 911 are substantially faster in auto mode because the PTM system is interconnected with the AWD, PDK and even PASM/PDCC, not to mention the engine of course. Smiley

    @Blueflame - thanks for pictures.

I still think that the dark carbon / plastic parts on the GT2 RS are looking hideous. However - that black car is probably the best looking 911 since decades. It looks amazing in black!

Maybe different with European cars? The Audi R8 has an auto mode in Performance DRY mode but not for US/Canada bound models. There was a whole discussion about this on r8talk.com. Weird.
