997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Forget all what you've heard about sports cars!
Because in just a little while the king will be back.
The people who will see him on the street will say:
"The king is dead. Long live the king!"
I'll dedicate this drawing especially to two persons:
Ron Houston and to the good old RC!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Let me be the first (of undoubtdly many) to say...:

    WOW

you're the man farina. and you say this is ONLY a hobby?

most people make their living with this kind of talent.

you truely help us envision future/fantasy products.!

    -Tom

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Farina: you rule! This car comes close to what I would like to see... :P
Great drawing, and finally a wing that does not seem out of proportion... really great.

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

If this is your hobby, when do you get work done??!! This is excellent, along with all your drawings. It's amazing any of us get any work done, I swear 1/4 of my workday is spent on this site! Hey, it beats work!

Funny you should say that, danny. I've been wondering when Nick gets any productive work done.

He seems to spend an inordinate amount of time slagging off Porsche, picking fights in this forum, and cruisin' on down to MacDonalds to entertain all the poor people, who hopefully manage to scrape together enough welfare money to buy a camera so they can take pics of their patron Saint Nick in his Poseurmobile.

Any clients of Nick Berry, attorney at law in San Diego, out there, who may be wondering what the hell he's been billing you for all this time - now you know!

Write the costs off as contributions to charity.

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

LOL!!! ! Every time I think we should lay off Nick, I look at a new post, and he's there again, provoking. Anyway I hope he can handle what he dishes out, because he honestly does make the forum a bit more entertaining, just a bit though. I guess it's just in his saintly nature to think of us poor, lowly P-car owners!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Not bad, the front will be slightly different and the side inlets aren't going that deep but great work, farina.
BTW: how about trying the rear? I know, not an easy task.

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

    Outstanding!

Farina, thanks for sharing this with us - I think your designs easily can be published in various car magazines, yet we get it here from you for free :-)

    Thanks!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

    Thanks farina I'm honored

I feel the same way. It's like he's mounted on a spring, but with no damper!

Yeh, what would we do without him.
Oh, I think you did that already. We'd talk about cars.

    danny911,
I need to see you in my office. I'm your manager disguised under "Ron (Houston)" now I see why we don't get anything done in the office. Just knock before coming in .

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

You scared me for a sec. One of the partners here has a 360, and for a split second I thought it could have been him for real. But I work on my own commisions, I would feel bad if I was on the clock at an hourly pay job, this is really a huge problem in todays work place for employees on the clock being payed. I think it would be hard if I were in the situation, and I probably would sneak in some internet time, but not like now!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

    MAN!! You have a gift!

Hey Ron, before you get around to me, I'm writing this stuff on my own time, honest.

At the expense of my beauty sleep!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Well, I can try but I can't tell him too much.
Only one thing maybe: the new 997 Turbo looks a little bit like a 959 but of course based on the current 997 design and with some elements from the 996 Turbo.
I wish I could say more but I'm a little bit "handcuffed" here.
Why? You'll read it soon on the Porsche Forum, a "one day in paradise" report.

sounds to me like the 997TT will look quite impressive and mighty. any chance that we'll see another headlamp design?

Can you imagine those awesome looking air intakes of 959 on the 997TT , smooth and scoopy wow!!! can't wait.

farina, hey buddy where are you?

    Carrera GT headlamps? Nope.
But the rear will be quite a surprise.

i actually like the new 997TT's rear!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Now use a little fantasy and try to imagine a modern interpretation with the typical 996 Turbo and new 997 look.
I wish I could be more specific but I can't.

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

OK, so, wing resting on the fenders, not on the decklid... exhausts integrated into the bumper, 996 tt grills in the side. (just my interpretation)
Hopefully not the side intakes of the 959.. I hate these... well, farina, this should do the trick!

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

    RC, this is torture!
Since you seem to have seen the new 997 Turbo how do you feel about the new design? Is it classical or a new more radical design approach.
I conclude from what you have said that Porsche will introduce a normal and a Turbo S at the same time. On the latter one: are we going to see a 5 as the first digit?
If you say that the S version will be quite pricey, I wonder how they are going to price the upcoming GT2...and GT1.

RC said "depending on each model" my assumption is as follows:

    Turbo
    Turbo S
    Turbo RS

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

Ron,according to your assumption their line-up will probably look like that:

    997 Turbo:

Engine: only a slight performance increase, probably around 435hp.
    Price: Euro 130.000
Suspension: standard suspension, active suspension optional

    997 Turbo S:
    Engine: 480hp
Suspension: probably an active suspension as standard
    Price: Euro 145.000

    997 Turbo RS
    Engine: 480hp
    Suspension: sport suspension
Standard Extras: PCCB, use of lightweight materials, sport bucket seats etc.
    Price: Euro 165.000

    GT2
    Engine: 500hp
Extras: 2X4, the rest is probably identical to the RS version
    Price: Euro 185.000

    RG TL

PS: RC is probably laughing about this wild speculations...

Re: 997 turbo: THE KING IS BACK!

    Turbo Clubsport?
