My God, you're right! That means that one could get a 2006 car for close to 100k EURO in a year or so .

yes . At the moment it's already possible to find 997TT with 30K km on at 110k EURO so i think at april, after the facelift announcement, you will find the same cars around 90k:

So you know the FL TT will be announce at April?

    Re: 997TT Facelift

    Made your order before facelift?

Tell Dealer to order a pair of tail lights and rear bumper and have them slap them on at delivery!!

Or..., reserve the right to buy these parts at-cost later.

My bet is once you get non-FL car you'll see it's not worth bothering with.

Buying these cars (ANY car) is all about losing money for us.

The FL is all about making money for Porsche.

Just trying to help: facelift isn't a big deal, nothing more than a minor PITA, IMO.

yet again, the re-freshing of a design is, imo several steps backwards, glad mine dosent look like this... i wish their efforts were more engineering directed, turbo s, pdk, sports exhaust etc. etc....sadly time is being spent on abominations like the new "special edition" cayman offering black paint, a brief case and pen for 11k.

IMO this is not a refresh, it's the Turbo S. I hope so anyway, if my car comes with the Lamborghini rear lights I'm going to be pissed off that's not the car I ordered.

So, 2010 model year will be the TTS? It might be worth the wait, for me, at least.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

I hope Stradale is right for the sake of future Turbo S owners. Porsche would be smart to give this restyling to the Turbo S, because everyone knows Porsche will be screwing the Turbo S owners as the 998s will be coming out right after the Turbo S judging from Porsche's track record. This restyling would at least make the Turbo S owners feel a little bit special even after having a Scud missle driven up their bottom by Porsche.

We saw TT mules testing at least as far out before the Turbo arrived. Plus I guess they could be out testing a refresh just because of LED lights but imo it would be more likey they would be testing performance modifications and not just to see if the rear lights stay in place. (although it could be the power-kit) IMO the standard Turbo will not see any increase in power, the increase will be based on the power-kit and the S. I think the Turbo has been out long enough for us to see S testing & imo that is what's in the pictures even though magazines are saying different. I agree the S is "at least another year out" but that means testing now.

Pic of the Turbo Cab testing July 2006, Turbo Cab not launched till July 2007:

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Post some pics of the interior...

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Uh oh! Looks like they're getting more aggressive looking.

Do you see this upper signal light aperture getting more pointy?

If so, it bothers me (wait..., EVERYthing bothers me! ) that they might just be plug-ing in another different shape (cheap and effective?) to make it look different for it's own sake.

What was "wrong" with the original shape (bottom photo).

That picture was of test mules back in mid 2006 not anything to do w/ refresh.

No, it's the same. The "original" is actually the top photo not the bottom.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

Every time there is an update some former generation owners devalue the new design... for obvious reasons. Let's move on.

MMD, I think the front looks exactly the same! I guess since the 997 facelift will get a front similar to that of the current turbo (air intake, indicators etc.), there is no need to change the front when the turbo is facelifted.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

If the front stays the same and only the rear is different, does it means it's a butt lift instead of a face lift?

How about a weight-loss program of carbon fiber body panel implants?

edz, 2006 was meant as in production year. Pre-owned cars here sell by year of manufacture, not by model year.

    Re: 997TT Facelift

These guys don't think there will be any engine changes:

Porsche AG is giving the entire 911-range a mild makeover. The 911 Turbo -- as seen here -- might get a bit of polish on its interior, but the powerplants will likely remain the same. Exterior changes could include a new layout for the headlights, new taillights, and redesigned front bumper on the standard 911 -- with more aggressive air-intakes. The rear bumper will also be freshened.

    That's silly...

The good thing is to let the current 997 owners feel better.

I still think this is the S and not a facelifted Turbo but.... Anyway if it is just a facelift its a step in the wrong direction.

If no DI or DSG, then the drawbacks of waiting don't seem to be outweighed by the benefits. Playing around with the aesthetics on a car that is already WAY too messy seems pointless to me.

The best thing by far about a Turbo is what's under the skin, if that isn't changing then what's the point of waiting longer and paying a higher price for a new model year?! I am certainly not buying another 997 for its great looks that's for sure!

If Porsche hired an Aston Martin or an Italian car designer for the facelift then that would be a different story. Although saying that, the guy that designed the Carrera GT seemed to know what he was doing!

I also just brought a 08RS, so I didn't wait for the face-lifed either. But the point is the face-lifed is NOT just the exterior look. Don't lie to yourself. There must be something like DI/DSG/SOFTWARE/HP increases to improve the performance. And I heard seen the 997 isn't that much faster than the 996 and other sports cars are getting much better, the face-lifed models are mainly for improving performance.

I refer you to RC's comments earlier in this post:

    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat...true#Post302919

    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat...true#Post383017

So at best no significant power increase, but most likely no change at all and power increases saved for X50 and Turbo S.

Surely Porsche will save their ace cards of DI and the GT2 mods (eg. new expansion intake manifold) for X50 and Turbo S. If they put these into the facelift then what will go into the X50, and then what will then be left for the 998 model?!

Myself, I would guess that hybrid technology research is going to be high priority as we move ever closer to the 2012 EU CO2 targets here in Europe. So the power war may take more of a back seat in the interim.
