    What a nice pic!

    This shot was just taken a day or so ago by another 928 owner. She spotted this partciular car while driving and met the owner.

    It is a 1985 S2 euro, for many reasons the ultimate 928 (only 86 S2's are slightly better). The picture and appearance of this are stunning. Everything considered, performance, style, driving and ownership pleasure and just coolness, this is the car to own, IMO.

    Wanted to let you all see such a nice example;

    Nice car. The 928 is the car that got me hooked on Porsche.

    By the way, why is the S2 the best version? Why not the GTS, for instance?

    The engine is built to rev high and free, becuase of a larger throttle body and intake, very agressive cams, and the highest compression of all 928's producing very good numbers of 310 hp 300 tq.

    It is much simpler being the last of the 2 valve engines, also the last non-interference engine.

    The gearing is lower than all later 928's 2.74 vs. 2.20.

    It is a couple hundred pounds lighter than later models especially the GTS.

    It got all the important electronics that later models have like the bosch LH fuel injection and ABS.

    All in all it is the quickest 928 model although it doesn't have the ultimate top speed of the S4, GTS etc. It has everything a 928 should have without the added complexity of the 32 valve engines.

    Subjectively, it has the older, more agressive body style, usually full leather interior, and one nice looking engine;

    Thanks, racerx. Good point about the gearing. I prefer the GTS' rear, though.

    (I do prefer the older versions to the S4/GT though. The GTS' horizontal stripe really ties the rear together. Without it, something is missing.)

    Very nice. 928 was my favorite car and I had the pleasure of owning one of the 1st 928S4 GT's. I tweaked the engine so I had close to 350 H.P. in lieu of standard 317 h.p. I spent $10K on a Nakamichi stereo and change the wheels with GTS wheels and installed momo steering wheel. The car had 30K when I sold it. It sold within 30 min after posting on the internet. To this day I regret selling that car. Here is a pic

    I would really like to see the 928 come back as nice GT.
    That would give some Astons/Maseratis/Fcars a good competition for front engine lovers. But they think they will sell more panameras...and they may even be right. But the 928 was the car that got me into Porsches (when I was 11 that is )

    The 928 is also one if not my favorite Porsche and contributed a lot to my admiration for the brand.

    I read it was Ferry Porsche's favorite because in his opinion it encapsulates every key value of the marque: a true sportcar endowed with engineering excellency, but foremost a genuine "normal" automobile that can be used as such.

    I didn't know so many share the same feelings as me, I thought it was somehow underrrated among the enthousiasts.
