    Family car - maybe for a couple. With kids definatly not enough room in the trunk.

    Exactly the same here. Personally it has particularly to do with the coupe's rear lights.

    OTOH, funny enough re. the "standard" 3-serie range I like the look of the estate/sedan better.

    it looks a bit awkward, from the side it looks like an M5 with a shortened rear passenger door and rear end. Coupe looks far better.

    The bonnet actually seems to fit the longer sedan better than the coupe, this is definently a wolf in sheeps clothing..

    I'm going to stand out here, but I quite like it. In fact, I hate the coupé's tail lights with a passion. They completely ruin the harmony of the car IMHO.

    On the other hand, the entire front end of the regular sedan is beyong f*gly. So I'd venture as far as claiming this is the best-looking 3 series yet.

    The M3 sedan in black or dark grey is going to be quite the sleeper. Debadge it, and potentially jealous neighbors or clients won't even notice you're not driving a 318d.

    For maximum effect, they should bring back the M3 Touring. Technical excellence and social hypocrisy: now THAT's what Germany is all about!

    According to Autocar they may release it if the M5 Touring is successful enough.

    Completely agree! Only problem is, C63 has slow auto box, whereas this will have DSG. But for me, I would prefer AWD as well with this much power. So my idea family car would be the next generation RS4 (wagon preferably) with DSG.

    The only thing I don't like about the sedan are the rear lights, but that can easily be solved by ordering the Black Line rear lights from BMW, here's a PS of them on the M3 sedan:

    While the sedan's rear lights are bland, at least, they're coherent, unlike the coupé's.

    And as temm showed, they look much better with clear blinkers.

    I went to the local launch of the M3 coupe last night. They had a video presentation by Gerhard Ricther (or whatever his surname is) - CEO of M division. He said that the new car is 25 seconds faster than the old car in testing at the Ring. I was shocked to hear that. How fast is the old car? 8:30?
