Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

My non-S Black Turbo was a good performer for my Euro trip also.  No hiccups of any kind and first time I ever broke 180 mph (292kph) on a road course track (and I let off the throttle much earlier than necessary)  no

Not really the kind of car that I can afford for my daily driver, but I understand why some who can choose one kiss

Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

Had a nice chat with a 991.2 Turbo S owner yesterday, we met on the Autobahn at a parking lot (I was with the R8) and had a coffee together. Guy was from Karlsruhe, actually the town Rennteam is home at but we met close to Munich.

He loves the R8 (seriously, he wanted to get one...he knew so much stuff about the car, so he wasn't trying to be just polite), he also almost got himself a 570S because it was in a similar price range with his Turbo S, even considered the new E63 S AMG but in the end, he got the 991.2 Turbo S.

Why? He is a business man who travels a lot around Germany and he told me that he always had a 911 in his garage and just didn't have the time to drive it on weekends, when he got home. At first, he wanted to replace his 911 Carrera S with a faster and more emotional car like the R8 or the 570S mentioned but then, he had to replace his business car (S63 AMG) as well, so he said to himself: Why not get one car for both purposes?! The 991.2 Turbo S fit perfectly in since he already knew what to expect from the 911 interior.

He already had almost 30000(!) km in his Turbo S and the car was barely 6 months old. He told me that he plans to drive it for around 100000 km and will go for the successor then. The best daily driver he ever had according to him, no issues at all, it just burns fuel and runs smoothly. Fast as hell too if needed, he said he never wants something else again because it makes him happy during work and it is the best combo for him.

Maybe he will join Rennteam at some point (I told him about it), so he will join this discussion and/or post some photos.

We also talked about the 720S and what a beast this is and first think he asked was: If you have an issue, what do you do? Next McLaren dealer to his home is 80 km away and the route to this dealer is basically the most horrible (traffic) route in the region, so he would need to drive two hours to even get to the dealer. He is right, I am in a similar situation, my next McLaren dealer is 70 km away. Also he said that a McLaren attracts way too much attention and people often think these cars are more expensive than they actually are. I agree.

Overall, he was so excited about his 991.2 Turbo S, I kind of started to miss mine. The bad exhaust sound? For this guy a plus since it doesn't attract too much attention ("I can fully accelerate at a green light and nobody gives a sh.t..."). He is also happy that his daily driver isn't always loud because sometimes he has to concentrate on business stuff as well and he doesn't want a loud car. To each his own I guess but I can see why the 911 Turbo S is so successful.

70 km away is a dealer distance dealbreaker? LOL. My Audi dealer is 40km away!

    European problems.

My Audi dealer is 70 km away as well but the thing is: I have an Audi dealer 5 km away from my home, if I urgently need one. Also, I have an Audi dealer in Austria or in Italy in a 20 km range if I need one when I pass through with my R8.

Just imagine your McLaren brakes down in Italy...good luck. I kind of understand now why ALDO transported his car in a  trailer behind his S8 when he went to Italy. Smiley  Smiley

Do you even get warranty coverage on other countries in Europe? We certainly don't get coverage in Canada...

Yes, no problem. Even my extended (5 years) R8 warranty is valid throughout Europe.

It wouldn't be possible any other way because of the short distances here.

Example (distances from Munich to the borders of various countries):

    Austria: 90 km.

    Italy: 180 km.

    France: 380 km.

    Czech Republic: 330 km.

    Switzerland: 210 km.

Europe is quite a cozy region, many countries close to each other. Smiley

    No you do.

If you drive your car to Canada, and the car broken down and get towed to a Canadian dealer, they will initiate the process with Porsche Canada and in turn contact PCNA. Same with Canadian cars in the USA.

But since the 2 countries are so close, your broken down Porsche will likely get towed back to the States anyway.

Interesting. Just did a search. Seems to depend on manufacturer. Not all cars are covered cross border. Audi for example will not. Porsche does, but has language with stipulation on it that would seem to imply it's fine, but still has a disclaimer.

Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

Domestic brands have full cross border warranty.

    For imports, it depends.

Ferrari and Lambo do, both brands’ Canadian operation are based out of the American HQ.

It depends on your situation. Moving to Canada/US with a car is different than just being in Canada/US when it has problems. In any case, I'm sure the best case scenario is that they're going to be making a bunch of call before they touch your car and you're not getting any expedited service hah.

Unfortunately, this isn't that easy here. There was a guy with a Ferrari(!) at Lake Garda at our hotel and he had to call a local tow company to tow his car (430) to the next Ferrari dealership (Verona I think). It was a real drama to put this car on the truck because the car was in an underground garage and the truck couldn't enter...

BTW, New Tire have been approved for 991.2 Turbo/Turbo S.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S with N0 designation. Almost all cars produced from September onwards are coming with these tires.

Why are magazines still testing the GTR? It came out 10 years ago.

Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

Reading EVO for a bit, they apparently spin out limited edition hypersuperduperversions out every year. I guess it's relevant to some people in some markets.
