boxster test drive

I drove a 2.7 boxster today while my 911 C4S cab was in the workshop. Can't believe how good it was on the bends. What a gem of a car. How come it costs less than half the price of my 911. Porsche have made a big mistake. You guys are getting way too much fun for your money.

Maybe you see why some Boxster owners find 911-owners ignorant when they call the Boxster an "entry-level Porsche"

Glad you enjoyed the spin in the Boxey

The price gap 987/997 has to do with the intrinsic value of the cars to a lesser extent only, it's just that the competitive environment for the Boxster is much harder than that of the 997.
As for your signature: may I ask how come that you "sold" the Scuderia already? I thought it was just presented to the public at the IAA

@Porsche-Jeck: I think Pink Panther doesn't mean the recently launched 'F430 Scuderia'. He used to have a F430 and the colour was 'Rosso Scuderia'.

Rosso scuderia is the colour not the new stradale name.

incidently, the view over the boxster bonnet reminded me of the f430. Similar contour to bonnet side.

But the Boxster IS the entry level Porsche. So what? Why should that make it inferior to anybody apart from petrol-snobs?

The F430 is the "entry level" Ferrari and yet it is regarded as the best driver's car in the range...

Had a 986S, then a 987S followed by a 997 C4S and yesterday took delivery of a new 987S! The 997 was good - but it isn't as good as the Boxster for playing around Lincolnshire's roads. Two boots, mid-engined, all the toys (if you want) for less than a 997; it's the sports car bargain!

No, you 911 guys are getting too little! The Boxster is Porsche's best car. There, I've said it. Except for being somewhat quicker in a straight line, there's nothing the 911 can do that the Boxster can't do better. And for half the price. Awesome car. Total fun.

I had a go with the 987 too and it's quite impressive for the price.

But wait for this: I also took a spin in an old 986, 2.5l from 1997 with 192.000 km on the clock. The car looked old and in bad shape, the interior looked like a category 5 hurricane had hit the seats and carpets. But it was a very entertaining car to drive. It had good power, good handling and nothing felt loose. It was very impressive for a 10 year old car. I was very surprised.

For 20K, it's a bargain. I bet you can find a good one for 25K. In US t's probably like 15K.

Here in Portugal the Boxsters from 97 are for about 25 k, and I agree that they are good. But don't you think that the 986 2.7 is much better ? I just drive the second, and I have the idea, that they have a big diference !?
